Monday was a losing day, with both of the selections at Windsor not able to deliver a win.

Under The Twilight ran better than Star With Purpose, but I never felt like he was going to land a blow.

In all fairness, I'm surprised that he continued and plugged on to miss the places by small margins. He was under the cosh on the outside for a long way, but he stuck to the task. The three ahead of him were all double-figure prices, so it was a race for the underdogs.

Star With Purpose halved in price, and I thought we could have been on to something as Jason Hart positioned him prominently. The horse was not good enough and was in trouble a long way from the finish. He went backwards very quickly, and the first two pulled miles ahead of the rest.

Brisk Symphony 5/1 (1pt) – Lingfield 7.50

It's a really poor day of racing despite there being a lot of cards to pick from. There was a previous selection of mine earlier on at Lingfield, but the way that horse ran for me last time out, I wasn't keen on giving him another chance.

From a wide stall, I thought that Brisk Symphony had a solid chance, even though she has to overcome stall 10.

All-Weather tracks are very unforgiving when you are drawn wide. They are very tight tracks, and the home straights aren't very long, so if you have to take a rear position, your chance could be gone when the leaders are swinging for home. Hopefully, she doesn't break slowly and can get a good position.

I'd say this is the best race of the day, and I wanted to give a chance to my selection because she is still unexposed and has a productive juvenile campaign. She returned to the track with a solid runner-up finish at Yarmouth, producing a career best according to the Racing Post analysts.

She hasn't run on the artificial surfaces before, so that's something she'll have to prove, but I think the fact that she proved herself in higher class races last year sets her up nicely for this Class 4. She was middle of the pack in a Listed event, and was fourth in a Class 2, both were slightly shorter than today's 7f. She runs on in her race, so this trip should be what she wants.

The yard is in good form, with a 23% strike rate in the last 14 days.
