JM Jungle started the festival off well but we were quickly bought back down to earth after a torrid time of things this week. I appreciate the show of faith to anyone who followed my opening few shouts and can assure you I will endeavour to repay you as the weeks roll on.
From now, I will begin to put my selections up in order of preference, not race time. Now, with plenty of time to get more acquainted, let us get stuck into a tricky looking Thursday. Each way priced winners may be hard to come by today with plenty of short priced market leaders but that's what I am here for, I am tight for time today so write ups may not be as in depth, but it's onwards and upwards from here on out.
The stats proved correct opting to chance Get Shirty one last time, salt was rubbed into the wounds a race later as the same jockey/trainer won with Star of Lady M. I hope some managed to see the chances of JM Jungle and benefitted from a single, given the L15 was another lead balloon.
The key to getting a return in these accas is at least 3 horses placing, with that in mind, I was tempted to whack in Elnajmm but with 5 places and plenty of big priced runners, I'll see if I can find one capable of hitting the frame at a nice price.
Art Market 8/1 5 places – 16.45 York
William Haggas has a great record in this and given his entry is on a hatrick it could be the safe play having only gone up 4lbs for those. The horse hasn't looked that impressive, doing just enough but I am taking encouragement from that, predicting he is yet to be fully wound up with more to come. I am not sure the route into this is overly ideal but it's hard to knock a winner.
Plenty of massive prices have filled the places over the years but 2yos aren't really my bag, having only gone up 4lbs for two wins, Art Market gets one more chance at the expense of Angel Hunter, many of you will know Witch Hunter, I backed that horse twice before
James McHenry 10/1 5 places – 15.00 York
With Callum Rodriguez at the track, I did have to double check that PJ has been trusted this season with a couple of the trainers nicer horses. I am a long term fan of Paddy and hope he can get his horse up there from near the bottom of the weights.
This is certainly a step up for the horse, but he has been going close of late and won in May off 5 lower. He was swept aside by Aragon Castle in July but is 9lbs better off. Next time he beat Thunder Run when a head behind La Trinidad who is 6lbs worse off. Horses aren't likely to be relentingin this race so we are slightly up against it but has shown more than enough to think he can finish in the places.
Queen Of Mougins 9/1 5 places – 17.20 York
Ralph Beckett is one of the big trainer I latched onto early, he's gone from strength to strength and now mixes it with the big boys. He won this race last year with a horse who came into this off the back of a couple of wins, we will have to hope my selection has had his mark protected in what is in all honesty a bit of a hopeful selection. The owners of this horse have 2 other runners here today worth a check.
Our selection was tried at York recently when a good enough 3rd, he gets 15lbs off Alfa Kellenic for 3 lengths. He was 3rd next time at HQ, a head behind Rosy Affaair, a horse who has had only 3 beat him in 6 starts. The winner that day Stay of Lady M has just won at York off a similar rating by 4 lengths.
Territorial Knight 11/1 4 places- 14.25 York
This selection looked the value play to the eye, with enough places to go round, the front three in the market hopefully wont prove too much of a hindrance. I am mindful of some many outsiders in this race given 4 places, you often see horses giving up, passed by the outsiders.
It was the trainer who caught the eye, but having looked at the form I was pleased to see this horse run Yes I'm Mali to half a length of levels, that horse has just won off 77. Next time, the selection went one better winning cosily, the 2nd is unraced since whist the 3rd was 13 lengths behind.
We have been given a mark of 86, but this isn't a handicap, with Tom Eaves opting for him over his yards other decent looking runner, he is chances to sneak a place from a decent stall.
- Advised Bet – Eachway Lucky 15
WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?
A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:
– 1 fourfold accumulator
– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections
– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination
– 4 singles
The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
