Cairnzy will be covering Saturdays Lucky 15 bet. Rizz will return tomorrow with his selections for Sundays card.

Moonfall 5/2 – Newmarket 14:52

A bit boring, but I think the mount of young Billy Loughnane is the one to be on in this contest. Billy is riding out of his skin at the moment and he’s basically neck and neck with Oisin Murphy in the hunt for champion jockey.

Billy has a strong chance in my opinion of adding another win to the board in the shape of Moonfall.

Fresh from an eye-catching Royal Ascot success, Moonfall arrives here with a cracking chance of following up his win in the Britannia. He travelled powerfully before quickening clear to win , suggesting there’s still plenty left in the locker despite a higher handicap mark. There still looks room in his mark on the back of his recent win and he looks to have a solid chance in my opinion.

Aalto 4/1 – Newmarket 15:25

The Bunbury Cup this year looks quite tricky but I thought Aalto had a good chance under jockey William Buick.

It’s not normally a race I’d get involved with but my selection has proven form in big fields. He’s a strong travelling sort and I think this sort of race could set up well for a horse making a challenge late on. His running style does come with risks attached and you tend to need a bit of luck in running but if Buick can get him rolling and positioned well, then he could be a major player in the business end.

Division 10/1  – Newmarket 16:35

Those towards the top of the market are probably your likely winners, particularly Venetian Sun who arrives here in top nick and in search of a hat trick. All that aside, Division looked the clear value play at 10/1. He’s been knocking on the door of late at Group Level and remains consistent having hit the frame at Group level in each of his last three races.

I’m a huge fan of Wathan racing and connections believe he is ready to land a deserved Group One. He will need to settle early on which can be his downfall but there’s no doubting he has ability with his turn of foot being his main asset.

Quai De Bethune 10/1  – York 15:45

I’m off to York for my final selection and it comes from another Wathan Racing owned horse in Quai De Bethune.

The prestigious John Smith’s Cup as usual

Is extremely competitive and the race itself demands class and stamina. From looking through the field I thought Quai De Bethune ticked plenty of boxes. His recent efforts suggest he’s arriving at exactly the right time, and a strongly run race should play to his strengths. He looked in need of the run when finishing sixth at Epsom on his seasonal reappearance but he could come on bundles for that outing. At 10/1 he looks a nice bet and he looks like the sort who has a big handicap run in him.
