A decent day was on the cards yesterday given the market support of the selections, somehow Shaladar was caught late, Grace Angel ran a stormer whilst the clear and obvious Knights Templar was typically overlooked – which I'm sure aided in his victory for one that couldn't get off the rail. First Instinct was written up but left out at the prices, as is typical he almost trebled in price yet still got the job done.

With my PC just crashing and all of my notes unsaved, today's write up will be more brief, it might also be obvious to some who keep their eye in that time has once again been against us but hopefully the four I have managed to scrape together run well enough to keep the half decent form going.

Attacanter Racing Tips

Changeofmind 11/1 four places – 15.00 Haydock

It would have been nice to see Haydock a bit more swampier, or to see this horse perhaps at Ascot given the ground it went close on last time but I am not going to let that stop me taking a chance despite a relatively overall poor looking profile.

The horse did win on debut on firm ground so we do have that, his best performance for a good while was at at least are in some sort of form. I am not sure if the heavy going untapped some unlocked potential but those in behind were all solid enough and his inclusion is warranted today despite plenty ahead of him in the market.

Fallon is there for the Haggas runner mainly, but it was promising to see he actually rode this horse last time and stays on, we get a 5lb swing with Jerr Batt who is around half the price – that'll do.

Cruff Turn 8/1 four places – 17.35 Thirsk

We are taking a leap of faith with this one but hasn't been rated this low for three years, last winning in June 2023 off 91.

Now 10lbs lower, in what seemingly is a drop in class, I think it is time to take a chance at the prices in what seems an open enough looking race. Recent history does suggest a win is unlikely, but a slight drop in trip should suit despite this being a testing track.

There is some recent form from just a few weeks ago when 3rd at Haydock, the two in behind came into the race having won whilst, the winner is a nice type and so is potentially Kilt, who must have a good chance in the 15.15 at Kempton.

Mereside Diva 7/1 three places- 16.25 Thirsk

David Barron picked up a winner yesterday with Callum Rodriguez, they share a previous C&D winner in Mereside Diva, who if on song is capable of putting in a solid performance 4lbs above her win back in June.

She would have had plenty of options so to see them turn up here could prove significant albeit we do have to overlook her last two outings. That's not so hard given how consistent she's typically been over the last 12 months.

She does have potentially the worst draw but she likes to be prominent so can break quick and get a good position, the extra place is a bonus.

Haymaker 7/1 four places – 17.05 Ascot

The selection is on the slide given some strong support, specifically for Brooklyn Nine Nine but that isn't going to put me off. Neither is two regular riders being at the track but not on board, including one in this race – who is on a space. That all looks ominous but we a place is up for grabs and we're fully capable of that.

With the ground tacky and many potentially going to find it hard to get home, I do quite like that fact this horse has strong course form over a furlong further, finishing 3rd of 17 back in July. Not many are overly proven on soft but again in July last year, she was 2nd and a chance is taken.

WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?

A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:

– 1 fourfold accumulator

– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections

– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination

– 4 singles

The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
