Rizzle has left Cairnzy in charge of Saturday's Lucky 15 bet.

You can find his 4 selections below in what looks like another tough and competitive day of racing.

New Vega 11/4 – Newbury 5.20

Despite being absent since August of last year, New Vega looks like the type who can continue progressing for the inform Simon & Ed Crisford yard.

She has been absent since finishing fourth over in France on soft ground conditions. She looked a real exciting prospect prior to that race, winning nicely at Doncaster on faster ground. She will get her ground conditions today, and this unexposed type could be a cut above this lot if ready to go after a break. Rossa Ryan has been booked for the ride, which is another positive when it comes to picking this horse.

Persica 6/4 – Newbury 1.55

Bit of a boring selection at 6/4, but this will be my only shorty in terms of the four horses I’ve picked.

I just thought Persica was by far the most solid bet in this race and form wise brought the best to the table. His second-placed effort in the Group 3 Diomed at Epsom looks decent form compared to that of the rest, and he’s remained consistent since, finishing fifth of sixteen at Ascot and hitting the crossbar once more in a listed contest at Sandown last time out.

Sean Levey is in the saddle this time around, and a repeat performance of his second at Epsom would see him tough to beat.

Of the remainder, jockey bookings suggest Al Zanati is the horse to be on between the Godolphin pair, while Oceans Four looks like he has a bit to find.

Ride The Thunder 10/3 – Newbury 2.25

I do try not to get aboard the favourite train, but after looking through this field, I had to roll the dice with the consistent Ride The Thunder.

Ride The Thunder has been a consistent sort for Roger Varian with recent form figures of 44236. He was a well-backed favourite for the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle recently but could only manage sixth place. With that said, the money came, and came hard for my selection that day, and I’m sure connections were a tad disappointed with the final result.

They’ve gone ahead and booked Tom Marquand for the ride tomorrow, and this race looks a lot less competitive.

Jumby 6/1 – Newmarket 3.42

My selection, Jumby, hasn’t got the head in front in over three years, which is, of course, concerning in its own right. As a result of that, he has dropped to a dangerous mark, and I think he looks like a player in this less competitive field.

His last two outings came in competitive handicap races at Ascot and Newmarket, and to be honest, I don’t believe he ran that badly in either of them despite finishing midfield. This contest represents a drop in class for Jumby, and although carrying top weight, he looks like the clear value play at 6/1.

I don’t know a whole lot about apprentice jockey Oliver Carmichael, but he claims a handy 7lb and the Eve Johnson yard is in good nick, operating at around a 26% SR in the last 14 days.
