Cairnzy will be covering Saturdays Lucky 15 bet. Rizz will return tomorrow evening with his selections for Sundays racing.
Todays lucky 15 bet will be advised as a straight win rather than an each way play given some of the races only have 4 runners.
Talk To The Man 7/4 – Aintree 2.25
Rizz has stuck up No Drama This End as one of his selections on the main thread. Don’t get me wrong I can understand why he has opted to go down that route. With that said, I don’t think he’s bulletproof at the prices and I thought I’d roll the dice with the Skelton charge in Talk To The Man.
Talk To The Man was a good hurdler, but I was ever so impressed with his first attempt over the larger obstacles, which saw him score quite impressively at Worcester. He has a bit to find in regards to the form compared to No Drama This End, but he does look like another exciting prospect for in the inform Skelton team.
Only four runners in this field could mean this becomes a tactical affair, so I’ll be interested to see how Harry goes about his business. Rizz mentioned that he can get caught out when riding from the rear, and if opts for that route it could be game over if No Drama This End gets into a nice rhythm on the front end.
Mange Tout 5/2 – Aintree 13.45
It’s a pity that mydaddypaddy is a non-runner for this contest and it narrows it down to yet again another small runner field.
I don’t mind small runner fields but we do want to see more horses on show, particularly on a Saturday afternoon at Aintree.
The withdrawal of mydaddypaddy means Alexei is your short 4/7 favourite in this contest. On all known form he’s the one to beat on the back of his good performances at Grade One level.
With that said, I opted to roll the dice with Mange Tout. Gordon Elliot sends his French import over and he doesn’t look completely without a chance. Again, similar to my first selection, he has a fair bit to find with the favourite but I wouldn’t completely rule him out. He is quite a nice bred sort being a half brother to the once useful Impaire et Passe. She lost her unbeaten record at Leopardstown two runs back but quickly got back on track when landing the C&D Anniversary Hurdle at this very same venue back in the Spring. There looks to be more to come this term and she looks like the value play to upset the applecart.
Revoir 11/2 – Doncaster 14.45
If I remember correctly, rizz tipped this horse up quite recently on the main thread.
Ralph Becketts charge has been a tad frustrating to follow having not won a race since winning on debut but she’s not a filly without ability. This contest is somewhat an easier assignment compared to that of her agonising second place in a Group 3 over in Italy recently. She was napped late on in that contest after running out of puff in the later stages.
11/2 seems a fair price in what looks like a wide open contest and I expect her to be bang there at the finish under a power packed Rossa Ryan ride.
Theyre Chancers 7/4 – Kelson 12.20
My last selection for today’s lucky 15 bet comes in the opener at Kelso in the shape of Theyre Chancers.
Another small runner field but I don’t think this will take much winning, and the completely unexposed Theyre Chancers looks a good bet if he stays the new trip. He’s sent up markedly in trip for this contest from 2m to 2m7 but he’s look a decent enough sort from what we’ve saw of him so far. He’s been absent since Christmas last year, so he has clearly had his issues but he’s proven he can go well fresh before so I wouldn’t be too worried.
