I'm disappointed that my sole selection on Monday wasn't able to finish the race off after travelling nicely into it from off the pace.

A blunder at the last stopped his momentum, which ultimately cost him in the end.

Tuesday marks the start of some nice flat racing at Newmarket. It should be a nice eye-opener and an opportunity to find horses for the tracker, with some making their debut runs for top yards.

From a punting angle, it can be a nightmare, and I advise not throwing the wallet at some of these races in terms of stakes, as they tend to throw up surprise results regularly.

I'm sticking with the meeting at Newmarket tomorrow for my two selections but I won't be getting involved with the races that consist of unraced two-year-olds due to the reasons I've already stated above.

Kikkuli 5/2 – Newmarket 4:05

My main selection of the day comes from a class 4 contest in the Alex Scott Maiden Stakes from Newmarket.

Before we even touch on the form of my selection it is worth mentioning him on breeding.

He is by the super sire Kingman out of the broodmare Kind, who produced none other than Frankel himself.

There have been some nice types down the bloodline for Kikkuli, who is a half-brother to Noble Mission, who you may remember won the Champion Stakes back in 2014. He is also a half-brother to Bullet Train, who contested at group level.

Although not winning on debut, I thought Kikkuli was quite impressive the first time out, and there were plenty of positives to take from that outing for trainer Harry Charlton. He was beaten by two and a half lengths on the day but did show a nice turn of foot and is sure to improve from the experience.

The form of his debut run couldn't have worked out much better with the winner, Zoum Zoum, who had the experience of a previous run and remains unbeaten.

He has since gone over to France and scored at listed level, whilst the third-placed Balmacara won next time out, beating a short-priced Charlie Appleby runner in the process.

Eye Of Dubai 9/2 – Newmarket 4:40

If you are a regular follower of the thread you'll remember I tipped up Eye Of Dubai on here only a couple of weeks ago. He repaid me on the day with an impressive performance at Catterick, kicking clear in testing conditions to win by around four-and-a-half lengths.

This contest represents a step up in class, and he carries top weight, which is never ideal. That being said, he was head and shoulders above his rivals that day, and to win by that sort of margin on heavy ground tells me he clearly had a fair bit up his sleeve.

I originally had this race narrowed down between my selection and Brunnel Nation. Brunnel Nation was another who won last time out and in impressive fashion; however, he has been hit with a 9lb-rise, which seems a bit on the harsh side.

His last outing was also over 6f, not the 7f he will run over in this contest, which was another red flag for me. He has only run over the 7f once and didn't show much when doing so.

He has obviously improved since then and since been gelded, so the return to 7f could bring out further improvement, but I've opted to stick with Eye Of Dubai, who I know stays the trip well and is at least somewhat proven over the distance.

I think one more race then kikuli will win . Bookies hate giving away money and it’s not been shown a lot of interest like others on the card that have shortened over night and 5/2 seems generous if they think it’s a winner or it could be a bookie bluff who knows but the bookies know the time of day looks like they are leaving it as fav for now only to see the real money come for whichever ever horse minutes before the off but that’s gambling pay your money take your chance . I’ll still have a small on the nose stake but my instincts are saying one more race .

Couple close last night but main bet (****+) Placein 4/1 won well and 10/1 Ew at Turf Paradise was 2nd

Philadelphia -Race 10… Ridin With Biden 2/1 ****+ Skybet boost
Horse was a close 3rd in G2 a year back and with shippers to Philly that look obviously best on paper are to tread carefully with BUT he contested a a G3 at course and distance coming 3rd again and this looks by far best firm in offer.
    Horseshoe Indianapolis -Race 8..Lobo Salvage 4/1 ***+
Bar the obvious absence as Horseshoe gets going again this looks overpriced
    Will Ridgers Downs -Race 7..Jackman 3/1 Bet365 ****
Done the dressage coming out the stalls last run which probably needed? got to thereabouts if braking well which hopefully doesn’t do again
