Astro King ran a great race to finish second behind Ottoman Fleet and he in return salvaged us some place money back for the day at an advised price of 11/1. On the other hand El Cordobes looked extremely out of his depth. Of course it is still early days for him, but I'm not convinced he was worthy of that sort of price tag.
I apologise in advance for the very brief write up on my sole selections of the day. I'm currently feeling quite unwell and with no back up as of yet to cover in my absence, I've no other option other than to soldier on!
I'm sticking with the meeting at Newmarket for my sole selection for Thursday. The meeting at Newmarket has been kind enough to me for the couple of days it has been on so why change it up?
Pen Portrait 14/1 EW – Newmarket 13:50
Not normally a race I'd get involved with from a punting sort of view however, at the current prices Pen Portrait looks far to over priced to not have a small each-way wager.
Trained by Simon and Ed Crisford, Pen Portrait has only had a small handful of runs to his name and he is surely open to further improvement.
I was surprised to see him marked up as big as 14s, given he has already turned over current market favourite City House who is as short as 11/2 for this race, My selection turned over City House when the pair met at Wolverhampton last September and he is weighted to confirm those placings in this race.
City house did follow up from his defeat to Pen Portrait to record a decent RPR at Kempton so his price in the market is probably reflective of that effort.

Fenlander 3.07 Ripon 7/2
No worries at all with conditions today. Connections have been praying for this ground today. Expect to see a very good performance today. Yard rarely send them to Ripon and have an excellent record here. 6 wins from 17 since 2008.
Best odds currently trading around 2/1 but that’s still very good value. As long as there’s no issues before the race he will win this very comfortably.
Will likely get snipped for sharing this in public.
