Southern Sam managed to win at Hereford in an eventful race which saw one of the four runners fall which then resulting in bringing down another runner which left my selection and Innisfree Lad to compete for the remaining 2m+. I really didn't think Southern Sam was going to get up in time as it's a short run-in, but he stuck to the task nicely and the other finisher's jumping started to fall off in the latter stages.
Abbingworth wasn't helped by the removal of many fences, which made it more of a stamina test than I had hoped. I stated that his stamina might get tested, but if the fences were kept in they would've gone a slower pace, which would've given my fancy a lot better chance of winning. James Turner gave the winner a belting ride and closed the door on Abbingworth when he was trying to get a prominent position.
Plumpton 3:20 – Gerico Ville 4/1 (1pt, Bet365)
There is probably a decent chance that Plumpton won't go ahead as they are going to be getting torrential rain in the early hours of Monday, but if it goes ahead I think Gerico Ville has a cracking chance of landing this amateur jockey's handicap.
I tipped this lad up when he was meant to run over 3m 2f on heavy ground at Fontwell, but they decided to pull him out of that race, and I thought that race was a tougher race than today's, so I'm sticking to my guns and going in on him again. The step back in trip by a couple of furlongs is going to be a huge help to him as he didn't quite see out the 3m 4f at Fontwell last time out, which came in the National race which Tommie Beau won. Gerico Ville was in the midst of running a good race, and looked to at least challenge for top three until he stumbled badly 2 from home and he looked knackered after that.
There was a fair bit of money coming in for him that day which saw him go off as favourite for the race. That was just his second start over fences and though he was a bit ponderous to begin with, as he warmed up he was accurate and jumped nicely, so I'd expect him to be better for that experience and off a 3lb lower mark in an easier graded race, he should be making his presence felt.
Chris Gordon continues to be in good form, with 3 winners from 10 runners in the last 14 days and the jockey booking of last year's winner of this race, Gina Andrews, takes the ride which is a huge positive and an eyecatching jockey booking, with her being the best amateur this side of the Irish Sea.20

Very quick mention for today. The very profitable Linda Peratt, Tommie Jakes and Paul Corrigan combination head down to Wolverhampton tonight for one runner, Colour Code 6pm. Bought out of Clive Cox ‘ yard having first run for new yard today. Just done by a nostril last run over 7f, dropped to 6f tonight. Breeding suggest this trip will suit also.
Yard have a massive 28% strike rate at the track over the last 5 seasons with 5 winners from 18. 600 mile trip for them today.
I’m on at 5/1 from last last night. Money has come over night, its as short as 15/8 but there is 1 firm at 3/1 still. If you aren’t on from last night probably just worth a watch imo. If you are on at 5s get half your stake layed off if it shortens any more as ill be doing. Always note the yards runners at Wolverhampton especially when Paul Corrigan is involved.
Black Hawk Eagle now 15/2 from 12/1. Good chance he goes off favourite imo. Money will keep coming.

Skybet NEW bet club is definitely an improvement rather than an ok £6 “free bet” on a Monday for horse racing for £25 spent in a week its 2x £5 bets for multiples for £30 or whatever you select but if you plan to put “free bet” on horses that’s a lot better option.

2 ways of looking at that. Yes it was hampered by the loose horse, but had that loose horse not unseated at the last, it would’ve won by 15 lengths.
