It was nice to land a winner yesterday with Hidden Law who returned at the advised price of 9/4. The win however was dampened as Hidden Law suffered a fatal injury after crossing the finishing line. Thoughts go out to connections and all those involved with Hidden Law. It's never a nice thing to see In racing and these fatal injuries are ultimately the downfall of the sport we all love.

The racing at Chester continues on Thursday and I've three selections for tomorrow which I hope run well.

Far Above Mary 16/1 EW – Chester 14:05

Rashabar who currently heads the market is probably a worthy favourite on paper given his most recent run at Newbury. He finished two and a quarter lengths behind Richard Hannons' Hawaiian who looks a nice horse. The debut run's form was also boosted as the second and fourth have since won next time out. Chester tends to favour those with low draws and with Rashabar being drawn in stall ten, that ultimately makes things a lot harder. For the reason just mentioned I decided to go hunting for an each-way angle into the race. My dart landed on Hugo Palmers Far Above Mary who looks an interesting runner with strong each-way claims.

Far Above Mary opened up at 25/1 which is long gone but the current price of 16/1 is still a backable each-way price in this contest. My selection brings some encouraging form to this contest with a fourth-placed effort behind Lady Lightening at Wolverhampton last month. Lady Lightening ran yesterday In a class two at Chester, finishing third and only three lengths behind the eventual winner Seraphin Angel.

My selection then went one better when finishing third next time out at Ayr over 5f. You might remember I tipped up a horse in that race called Pastoral Way but he ran a stinker on the day. The race was won by a Charlie Johnson newcomer Zabeel Road who looked impressive on debut. Charlie Johnson is known for having his youngsters ready to go and he was relatively fancied in the market that day. Far Above Mary only finished two and a quarter lengths off  Zabeel Road that day which was a cracking effort given she was a tad green and short for racing room within the final furlong.

Tomorrow's contest represents a step up in trip which I'm hoping will allow her to settle a bit better and hopefully improve further for her third outing. Trainer Hugo Palmer is in good form at present and the booking of William Buick is another positive.

Jayarebe 5/2 – Chester 15:05

I'll try not to blabber on with this one but I was impressed with Jayarebe on his last outing at Newbury. He travelled like the winner for the entire way and found plenty under pressure to win by over three lengths.

He looked like a horse who would appreciate further given he hit the line hard that day and he gets exactly that tomorrow as he steps up from 1m1f to 1m2 for this contest.

The form of my selection's last run recently received a boost with the third going on to win at Newmarket by four lengths in a class one.

Arch Legend 7/4 – Chester 16:45

Course Specialist Franny Norton gets a leg up on the market leader Arch Leader who should go close in the finale at Chester on Thursday. He is an improving colt who has gone from strength to strength with each run this season.

His last run at Wolverhampton took me by surprise, he had most of the field off the bridle from a long way back. It was a hands-and-heel job for Franny that day and he strolled home to win by five lengths in the end. He comes here in search of a hat-trick having won at Windsor before the Wolverhampton success. He carries a 6lb penalty however he’s officially 4lb well in given he's due to go up a further 4lb in the future.
