Apologies in advance, Eye Of Dubai was indeed demoted to second place due to interference ( Watched replay and complete nonsense of a decision) so technically we only had one winner from two however after looking online there is online bookmakers who paid out on Eye Of Dubai so depending on where you placed your bet it could of been a winner. PS I'm counting it as a winning selection 🤣🤪
Kikkuli showed great determination to get the better of Charlie Applebys Creative Story and looks a really nice horse for connections going forward this season.
The flat season has only just started, but Eye Of Dubai is becoming a favourite of mine already as he done me yet another favour when just getting the better of Brunel Nation on the line. He is another horse who will improve further and is one to keep an eye on next time out.
I'm sticking with Newmarket for my two selections on Wednesday.
Astro King 11/1 EW – Newmarket 3:00
I was originally tempted by Ottoman Fleet who returns to defend his crown in this contest and given he is a three time winner at this particular course he has to be respected especially with the Charlie Appleby yard in great nick at present. That being said his recent form at Meydan was well below par and at the prices I opted to look elsewhere.
My dart landed on Astro King who at 11/1 looks a decent each way play in this competitive field.
Astro King had some of the best handicap form in the country last season. He was beaten by a nose at 50/1 in the John Smith’s Cup at York before following up the run to win a class two handicap at York.
He then carried top weight to land the Cambridgeshire over this very same course and distance in September of last year. He beat Greek Order that day by half a length who was a very well handicapped and progressive three year old at the time.
Astro King had a short stint in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia when contesting in a couple of group 2's. He never landed a blow on any of those outings ( finished mid pack on both outings ) but was up against some good opposition and in the grand scheme of things those efforts were not as bad as the finishing position says on paper. A return to the UK with fitness on his side I think he can go well once more at a decent price.
El Cordobes 5/1 – Newmarket 2:25
I'm tipping against the current fancied favourite Narkez who comes from the French side of racing and he is clearly highly regarded by connections. Tipping against a favourite who comes from an area of racing that I don't follow goes against everything I told myself I wouldn't do but I couldn't help myself and I had to stick El Cordobes up at the prices.
El Cordodbes was an expensive purchase for connections, 2,000,000gns as a yearling but he showed last time out at Kempton that he is a nice horse after improving considerably from his debut run.
Tomorrows contest represents a rise in class but I can't help but be impressed with his previous run at Kempton. The Kempton run was over the mile and he caught my eye in the way he picked up the leader that day in a matter of strides. He hit the line hard that day to suggest this extra furlong he'll run over tomorrow should surely see him improve further.

Just realised he was demoted to 2nd for interference however most online bookmakers paying first past the post as claiming both winners.
Don’t do online betting so unsure if that was paid out or not.
If someone could let me know in comments if you had the horse in a bet online what the outcome was I’d appreciate that.

Cairnzy . I just saw the results so was confused so Just watched replay gave the second a big knock but seen a lot worse and nothing changed.
Problem is bookies only pay first past the post on win only bets and not on multiples so wont get the double.

I had it in a Yankee and an acca and it was settled as a loser. Went on and told them they state they pay first past the post and they resettled as a winner. Difference between £56 and £380 👍🏻
