Racing tips: A likely strong pace could set it up for the hold up horse One Hart

Fakenham was abandoned which left us with two selections from Ayr on Tuesday. The shorter-priced selection at the time of writing was shocking, he was seriously struggling which was a big surprise to me. He was weak in the market, but that was because the winner was well-supported. However, Ailie Rose secured profit on the day with an easy success and was well backed into 6/4F.

It was a shame to see Fakenham not going ahead as my 33/1 selection, Country Kitten was evidently the wrong price as he was slashed into 10/1 not too long after he was put up as a selection. I was confident he'd run a big race, and chances are he won't be 33/1 again for future similar races.

Two of the jumps meetings have been called off nice and early due to having waterlogged tracks, which leaves us punters with one AW meeting at Kempton during the afternoon/evening.

Kempton 6:30 – One Hart 11/1 (0.5pt EW, WilliamHill)

It's always an easy angle to go for when the Irish send their horses over, but that's not the reason to back One Hart.

Flat racing can be very annoying sometimes as you try and work out the pace and when you think there's plenty of pace on, it usually results in the complete opposite happening and you get one horse who gets an easy lead and the pace holds up. However, I'll be taking a chance that the pace will collapse as on paper there is a lot of pace in this race with at least four or five in this race liking to run from the front, so fingers crossed they go a good gallop and it'll be set up for a horse from the back to pick up the pieces and that's where I think One Hart will be positioned and if he gets the gaps I think he is a player at an EW price.

He made his first run for D Donovan at Chelmsford just before Christmas which was his first run in 165 days, he shaped well enough but will have definitely needed the run given he is now a 7yo. Based on his runs for Grant Tuer he is on a good mark as he won at Newcastle off today's rating and went close off 64 a further three times. D Donovan has opted for Ross Coakley to be in the saddle this time around and he was used by this trainer when Ross was in Ireland, so it looks to be a more positive jockey booking than the 7lb claimer who was on board last time out.
