A few things have come up and I've had no time to cover selections on the main thread. Rizzel has kindly covered four selections for Friday in my absence, but to help him out I've covered the Lucky 15 thread.
As usual, let us know who you fancy for Friday's racing in the comment section.
Cairnzy's tips
Tactician 5/4 – Ascot 2.25
This looks like a straight shoot-off between Tactician and True Legend. I think it's hard to look past the Andrew balding trained Tactician who has seemingly thrived since stepping up in trip. His run at Goodwood two starts back was impressive, winning easily by two and a half lengths. He hit the line hard that day, suggesting this further step up in trip would be well within his reach. The Sir Mark Prescott-trained True Legend is a good horse on his day, but surely giving 21lb to my selection on a tough course like Ascot should be a step beyond him.
Hosaamm 11/2 – Ascot 3.35
The Gosden-trained Mutaawid and Palmer-trained Wonder Kid are two nice types, but I think they can be taken on in this contest. The horse I like is Hosaamm, trained by Owen Burrows who has booked jockey William Buick for the ride. My selection has only had the three runs to date but appears to be going from strength to strength for each run. He is still a bit raw around the edges, which has shown in each of his outings but he looks to have plenty of ability. If he's able to settle better under William Buick, then there's no reason he can't get involved in this race.
Due To Henry 15/8 – Sandown 7.35
I'm a huge fan of the Eve Johnson yard, and her runner Due To Henry comes with strong claims under jockey Charles Bishop. Although winning nicely at Windsor last time out, its the form of his fourth at Yarmouth two runs ago that sticks out to me as a solid performance. It was a tightly bunched finish at Yarmouth that day and my selection was only beaten by under a length into fourth. The winner disappointed yesterday, however had won four on the bounce prior to the Yarmouth outing while the sixth-placed horse Maritime Lady was a winning selection for Rizzel on Wednesday.
Karmology 8/1 – York 7.50
I'll chance my arm and take on the well-fancied Ejaabiyah who heads the market as an even-money favourite. At the prices, the Karl Burke runner Karmology represents some good value at 8/1 to upset the apple cart. He carried a hefty weight to victory at this course a couple of weeks ago and this step up in class could be well within reach if producing a similar effort in this contest.
WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?
A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:
– 1 fourfold accumulator
– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections
– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination
– 4 singles
The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
