It's always hailed as one of the best weekends in the football calendar but the 3rd Round of the FA Cup is an absolute minefield for us punters.
It kicks-off tonight when the haves and have-nots meet at the County Ground where Swindon Town host English champions Manchester City. Swindon faced an uncertain future in the summer and just two weeks before the season started had just six first team players so a live FA Cup tie will be a welcome boost to the club's coffers.
There'll be no Pep Guardiola on the sidelines for City and we can expect some fringe players to get a run out but that won't make League Two's Swindon's task any easier and it's a surprise to see them as short as 10/1 – Only two weeks ago Newcastle United were 12/1 to win at home to City. In turn, that makes he 2/9 on the away win look a bit of value for big hitters.
Best bet could be to focus on the half-time markets where the bookies are a bit more generous. The first half Asian goal line is se at 1.5, which pays 1.900 but City -1.0 on the half-time asian market pays 2.100.
In France, Marseille should be succesful against Bordeaux who have conceded 21 in their last eight Ligue 1 matches. As should Bayern Munich at home to struggling Borussia Monchegladbach who were winless in their last five before the winter break (D1 L4), conceding 14 in the process. The Bayern / Marseille double pays 11/10.
