Yesterday's three selections were pretty much flops, other than maybe the last horse Gemirande who gave it a good go from the front but couldn't go with the winner, who looked well ahead of his mark.

I previously put up COOPER'S CROSS a few weeks ago, where he was ultimately a non-runner. I felt that he was going to run a big race that day, which was why it was a shame that he didn't compete, but he's out again today, in a weaker race and I think he is still on a workable mark of 117.
He was withdrawn last time out for the reasoning of unsuitable ground when the ground was described as ‘heavy' at Kelso. I do believe that ground that deep was an honest reason for being a NR, as he hasn't raced on softer than soft. I do think that he is capable of winning on soft ground, as his pedigree suggests that he will be fine on it, and his only start on this surface was a decent run, but was over hurdles. This horse looks much better suited to fences, so the fact he wasn't that good over hurdles isn't a concern for me, but since he's gone over the larger obstacles he looks much more comfortable. I think this drop in trip will be suited for him, as he looked in need of it last time out at Newcastle over an extended 2m 7f, when he was beaten by a horse who should be winning races again in the not so distant future. The form of the Sedgefield win in November has been boosted by the fourth horse, Sounds Russian who has since bolted up in his last two races.
This race is stronger than it may look on first glance, but there is definitely a better horse than his current mark in Cooper's Cross, in my opinion, and he offers much better value than the favourite, who arrives in good form, but doesn't have the 10lb claimer doing the steering, so will find this tougher.

USA racing really kept me sane last 11/12 days but with covid and sleeping away to $hite or doing to much sleeping I’m glad I couldn’t post.
