Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me remain in the goal-laden Dutch Eredivisie, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in another one of the fixtures.

Two clubs separated only by two points in the Eredivisie table meet at the Stadion Galgenwaard on Sunday afternoon as ninth-placed Utrecht hosts seventh-placed NEC in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Ron Jans’s hosts have scored 19 goals across their opening 10 Eredivisie fixtures this season, with 13 (68%) of them coming in front of their supporters.
The cathedral citizens have failed to score just twice in the league this campaign, notching 2+ goals in six (60%) of them – including in 4/5 (80%) on home soil – and will be confident of breaching an NEC defence that is without a clean sheet in each of their previous seven Eredivisie matches, shipping 18 goals.
Dick Schreuder’s visitors are the joint second-highest scorers in the Dutch top flight, firing in 27 goals across their opening 10 matches, with 11 (41%) of them coming on their travels.
The Nijmegen-based outfit have found the back of the net in each of their opening 10 league outings this term – scoring on multiple occasions in a remarkable nine (90%) of them – and will be confident of continuing their scintillating form in front of goal against a Utrecht backline that has recorded a solitary shutout across their past nine Eredivisie encounters, shipping 15 goals.

Utrecht’s opening 10 Eredivisie fixtures have averaged 3.40 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in seven (70%) of them – including in 4/5 (80%) on home soil (4-0, 4-1, 0-1, 2-2 & 3-1) – whilst each of their last four and six of their past nine have produced goals at both ends.
NEC’s opening 10 Eredivisie fixtures this season have averaged a staggering 4.60 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score banking in each of the last seven and eight of the past nine, whilst nine (90%) have seen a minimum of three goals (5-0, 4-1, 3-0, 2-3, 3-5, 2-3, 2-1, 1-1, 3-3 & 2-2).
Given the goal-scoring form both of these teams have displayed this season, coupled with their defensive vulnerabilities, I fully expect to see an open and entertaining encounter in Utrecht between these two sides on Sunday afternoon.
