Two clubs separated only by two points in the La Liga table meet at the Estadio Martinez Valero on Saturday afternoon as 14th-placed Elche entertain 18th-placed Deportivo Alaves in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Eder Sarabia’s hosts have scored 45 goals across their opening 34 matches since promotion to the Spanish top flight, with 28 (62%) of them coming in front of their supporters.
Los Franjiverdes have blanked just five times in La Liga this campaign – scoring 2+ goals in three of their past four at home – and will be confident of breaching an Alaves defence that has kept just three clean sheets all season, shipping multiple goals in seven of their past eight.
Quique Sanchez Flores’s new side have scored 40 goals across their opening 34 clashes in the Spanish top flight this term, with 17 (43%) of them coming on their travels.
The Babazorros have made the net bulge in 10 of their last 11 and 17 of their previous 21 La Liga outings – notching on multiple occasions in five of the past six and nine of their previous 14 – and will look to continue their recent form in front of goal against an Elche backline that’s kept just two clean sheets across their last 17 encounters.

Elche’s opening 34 matches since promotion to the Spanish top flight have averaged 2.88 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in 21 (62%) of them, including in 16 of their past 20.
Deportivo Alaves’s opening 34 La Liga fixtures this term have averaged 2.74 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in 18 (53%) of them, including in each of their last six and eight of their past 10.
Over 2.5 Goals also landed in the reverse fixture at Mendizorroza at the start of October, and another high-scorer looks likely between these two in Alicante on Saturday afternoon.
