Gil Vicente will look to continue their push towards European qualification as they welcome poor-travelling Vitoria Guimaraes to the Estadio Cidade de Barcelos on Saturday night.
Gil Vicente’s away-day troubles continued last time out, as they conceded deep into stoppage-time to draw 2-2 at relegation-threatened Tondela – a result that sees them slip down to sixth-place, a point behind Famalicao in fifth.
However, they are far stronger at home, with Cesar Peixoto’s hosts picking up 27 points from a possible 45 (W8-D3-L3), with that record changing to W8-D2-L1 when excluding matches with the top three.
Vitoria Guimaraes come into this clash having won just one of their previous seven league outings, as they could only draw 1-1 away at rock-bottom AVS last weekend, leaving them in ninth position, 10 points behind their hosts.
That was just the 11th point they have collected on their travels this campaign (W3-D2-L9), with Gil Lameiras’s visitors losing all seven of their trips to fellow top-10 opposition (W0-D0-L7).
