Looking to return to winning ways following a surprise lack of goals in the Eredivisie over the weekend, Tuesday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the English Championship, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

Two clubs separated by a solitary point in the Championship table meet at Portman Road on Tuesday night as ninth-placed Ipswich hosts 10th-placed Watford in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Kieran McKenna’s hosts are the joint third-highest scorers in the Championship, firing in 21 goals across their opening 12 matches, with 14 (67%) of them coming in front of their supporters.
The Tractor Boys have failed to score just twice in the Championship this season – notching on multiple occasions in four of their last six at home – and will be confident of breaching a Hornets backline that has kept a solitary clean sheet in the league this season.
Javi Gracia’s visitors have scored 17 goals across their opening 13 Championship contests this term, with 12 (71%) of them coming across their last seven matches.
The Hornets have failed to score in just one of their last seven and three of their past 12 Championship encounters – striking two or more goals in five of their previous seven – and will look to trouble an Ipswich defence that has kept just two clean sheets in the league this season.
Bet of the Day
Ipswich’s previous nine Championship fixtures have averaged 3.33 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in seven (78%) of them (2-2, 5-0, 2-1, 1-1, 3-1, 1-2, 0-3, 1-0 & 4-1).
Watford’s previous 12 matches in the English second tier have averaged 2.67 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in eight (67%) of them, including in six of their past seven (2-1, 2-2, 2-1, 0-1, 2-1, 1-3 & 3-0).
Given the goal-scoring form of both teams, coupled with their lack of clean sheets, I expect a high-scoring encounter between these two at Portman Road on Tuesday night.
