The Ivory Coast and Norway do battle in Arlington, Texas, on Tuesday evening in the Round of 32 in what promises to be an entertaining encounter.
The Ivory Coast made a winning start in Group E, as Manchester United’s Amad Diallo scored in the 90th minute to secure a 1-0 victory over Ecuador.
However, the Elephants would go on to suffer last-minute heartache themselves on MD2 against Germany, as they were undone by a Dennis Undav double in a match they had initially led.
Emerse Fae’s men would go on to seal second spot in the group, as they recorded a comfortable 2-0 victory over Curacao – reaching the knockout stages for the very first time at the fourth attempt.
Norway made a flying start on their return to the World Cup finals for the first time since France 98, as they thrashed Iraq 4-1, before edging a five-goal thriller with Senegal.
However, Stale Solbakken’s men succumbed to a 4-1 defeat of their own against France in their final group match – albeit with a heavily rotated starting 11 – meaning the Scandinavians would have to settle for second place in Group I.
