Two clubs at opposite ends of the Spanish Segunda table meet at La Rosaleda on Saturday evening as promotion-chasing Malaga host relegation-threatened Leganes in a fixture that I’m keen to get the hosts on side.
Malaga recorded their 11th victory from their last 14 Segunda matches last time out thanks to a resounding 0-3 win away at 16th-placed Cadiz, moving them within one point of the automatic promotion places.
Juan Francisco Funes’s men boast the division's best home record, picking up 35 points from a possible 48 (W10-D5-L1), winning six of their last seven and nine of their previous 12 (W9-D3-L0).
Leganes put a halt to their five-match winless run in the Spanish second tier last time out by claiming a 5-2 victory at home to Cueta, moving them six points clear of the relegation zone.
However, Igor Oca’s visitors have collected just five points from their last eight Segunda matches on their travels (W1-D2-L5), losing four of their past five (W0-D1-L4).
