Football Bet of the Day

After seeing Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day lose due to a stoppage-time missed penalty at San Siro, Saturday’s column sees me head to the Scottish Premiership, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

⚽️ Livingston vs Kilmarnock

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Premiership

⏰ Saturday 10 January, 15:00

The bottom two in the Scottish Premiership table meet at Almondvale on Saturday afternoon as bottom side Livingston plays host to 11th-placed Kilmarnock in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.

David Martindale’s hosts have scored 20 goals across their opening 20 matches back in the Scottish top flight, with 13 (65%) of them coming in front of their supporters.

Livi have found the back of the net in all but one of their nine league outings on home soil this term – notching on multiple occasions in three of their last five – and will look to breach a Kilmarnock backline that has kept just one clean sheet across their last 14 Premiership matches, shipping 2+ goals in nine (64%) of them.

Neil McCann’s new side have scored 19 goals across their opening 21 matches in the Scottish Premiership this campaign, with 11 (58%) of them coming on their travels.

The Ayrshire outfit have found the back of the net in 8/10 (80%) of their away fixtures in the Scottish top flight this term – only failing to net at reigning champions Celtic and recent League Cup winners St Mirren – and will look to trouble a Livingston defence that has yet to keep a clean sheet at home in the Premiership this season, shipping multiple goals in seven of their previous eight.

Bet of the Day

Livingston’s opening nine matches at home since promotion back to the Scottish Premiership have averaged an eye-catching 3.56 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in eight (89%) of them (3-1, 1-2, 1-2, 1-2, 2-2, 0-1, 2-2, 2-4 & 1-3).

Killie’s opening 10 Premiership fixtures on the road this season have averaged 3.00 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in seven (70%) of them.

The last meeting between these two clubs at Rugby Park on the opening day of the season finished 2-2, and with both teams seeing this as a realistic chance to get all three points, coupled with Kilmarnock under new management, I’m expecting an open and high-scoring encounter on Saturday.
