Football Bet of the Day: Head to Tokyo For Goals on Sunday Morning

Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the Japanese top flight, and there is one fixture in particular that appeals to me for goals.

2022 J1 League champions Yokohama F. Marinos will look to start climbing the table as they travel to the capital to take on 5th-placed FC Tokyo at the Ajinomoto Stadium on Sunday morning in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.

Tokyo are the leading scores in the Japanese top flight this term, slamming in 25 goals across their opening 14 matches, with 12 (48%) of them coming on home soil.

Peter Cklamovski’s hosts have only failed to score away at Kawasaki Frontale on Matchday 5 – notching two or more goals in nine (64%) of them, including in four of their last five at home – and will be confident of adding to their impressive goal-tally against a Marinos defence that has yet to register a shutout across their opening seven J1 League road trips this campaign, shipping multiple goals in five of their last six.

Harry Kewell’s visitors have scored 17 goals across their opening 12 J1 League fixtures this term, with 12 (71%) of them coming on their travels.

The Tricolor have found the back of the net in each of their opening seven road trips – scoring on multiple occasions in four (57%) of them – and will be confident of finding the target once again on their travels against a Tokyo defence that has registered a solitary clean sheet in the league this season, with only the bottom-four conceding more than the 23 they have let in.
