Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the goal-laden German second tier, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

Two clubs separated only by four points in the German 3. Liga table meet in North Rhine-Westphalia on Wednesday evening as eighth-placed Rot-Weiss Essen entertains ninth-placed Waldhof Mannheim in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Rot-Weiss Essen are the fourth-highest scorers in the German third tier, firing in 50 goals across their opening 26 league outings, with 27 (54%) of them coming in front of their supporters.
Uwe Koschinat’s hosts have failed to score just twice in the league this season – scoring 2+ goals in an impressive 15 (56%) of them – and will be confident of breaching a Waldhof Mannheim backline that has kept just three clean sheets in the league this campaign, with just one of those coming on their travels.
Luc Holtz’s visitors have scored 43 goals across their opening 26 matches in the German 3. Liga this campaign, with 20 (47%) of them coming on their travels.
The Waldhof Buben have failed to score in just three of their previous 20 league outings – notching on multiple occasions in 12 (60%) of them – and will look to trouble a Rot-Weiss Essen backline that has recorded just three clean sheets in the league this season.

Waldhof Mannheim’s opening 26 matches in the German third tier this term have averaged 3.46 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in 19 (73%) of them – including in 10 of their past 11 – whilst 15 of their previous 20 have produced goals at both ends.
Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals landed in the reverse fixture back in September, and given both teams’ records at either ends of the pitch, a repeat looks likely in Essen on Wednesday.
