Two clubs separated by five points in the Eredivisie table meet at the Kras Stadion tomorrow afternoon as 14th-placed Volendam entertain 11th-placed Fortuna Sittard in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Rick Kruys’ hosts have scored 29 goals across their opening 26 matches since promotion back to the Dutch top flight, with an impressive 22 (76%) of them coming in front of their supporters.
The Palingboeren have blanked in just one of their opening 13 Eredivisie encounters on home soil this term – notching on multiple occasions in seven of their last 10 – and will look to continue their fine goal-scoring record at home against a Fortuna Sittard backline that has kept just three clean sheets in the Dutch top tier this campaign, with neither of those coming on their travels.
Fortuna have scored 40 goals across their opening 26 Eredivisie fixtures this season, with 18 (45%) of them coming on their travels.
Danny Buijs’s visitors have blanked just three times in the Dutch top flight this term – scoring two or more goals in six of their past 10 clashes – and will be confident of breaching a Volendam defence that has recorded a solitary shutout since their return to the Eredivisie.
