After returning to 2, Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the Premier League, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.
⚽️ Brentford vs AFC Bournemouth
🏴 Premier League
⏰ Saturday 27 December, 15:00
Two clubs separated by a solitary point in the Premier League table meet at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon as 12th-placed Brentford hosts 15th-placed Bournemouth in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Keith Andrews’ hosts have scored 24 goals across their opening 17 Premier League encounters this term, with 16 (67%) of them coming in front of their supporters.
Only second-placed Manchester City have prevented The Bees from scoring at home in the Premier League this season – striking on multiple occasions in five of their past seven – and will be confident of continuing their impressive goal-scoring form at home against a Cherries backline that has shipped 23 goals across their opening eight encounters on their travels this season.
Andoni Iraola’s visitors have scored 26 goals across their opening 17 Premier League encounters this season, with 15 (58%) of them coming on their travels.
The Cherries have failed to score just once on their travels in the Premier League this season, scoring 2+ goals in five (63%) of them coming – including in four of their previous six – and will look to breach a Brentford backline that has kept just three cleans sheet in the 14 Premier League this season, shipping 2+ goals in nine (53%) of them.

Bet of the Day
Brentford’s previous Premier League encounters have averaged 3.43 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score paying out in six (86%) of them, whilst five (71%) have also gone Over 2.5 Goals (2-2, 3-1, 0-1, 3-2, 3-1, 3-1 & 1-1).
Since the beginning of last season, Bournemouth’s 27 Premier League contests on their travels have averaged an eye-catching 3.81 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score paying out in an impressive 21 (78%) of them, whilst 20 of their last 22 and 22 of their previous 26 have produced three or more goals.
The corresponding fixture last season was a five-goal thriller, and I’m expecting the goals to flow once again in West London on Saturday afternoon.
