Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the Brazilian top flight, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

⚽️ Cruzeiro vs Botafogo FR

🇧🇷 Serie A

⏰ Sunday 26 July, 20:00

Two clubs separated by a solitary point in the Brazilian Serie A table meet at the Mineirao stadium on Sunday evening as eighth-placed Cruzeiro entertain ninth-placed Botafogo in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.

Artur Jorge’s hosts have scored 26 goals across their opening 19 Serie A fixtures this campaign, with 16 (62%) of them coming in front of their supporters.

The Raposa have blanked just once at home in the league this season – scoring on multiple occasions in four of their past six – and will be confident of troubling a Botafogo backline that has failed to keep a clean sheet since the opening day of the season, shipping 32 goals.

Franclim Carvalho’s visitors are the joint second-highest scorers in the Brazilian top flight, firing in 33 goals across their opening 18 matches, with 16 (48%) of them coming in front of their supporters.

After failing to score in two of their opening four clashes this season, the Fogao have made the net bulge in each of their next 14 – scoring on multiple occasions in eight (57%) of them – and will be confident of breaching a Cruzeiro defence that’s kept just four clean sheets in the league all season, with none of those coming across their last six.

Bet of the Day

Cruzeiro’s opening 19 Serie A fixtures this campaign have averaged 2.89 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score paying out in 13 (68%) of them – including in each of their previous six.

Botafogo’s opening 19 matches in the Brazilian top flight this season have averaged a league-high 3.42 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score banking in 15 (79%) of them – including in 14 of their previous 15 – and I’m backing that trend to continue in Belo Horizonte on Sunday evening.
