Football Bet of the Day

After recording back-to-back winners at St. Mary’s on Tuesday, Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the European action, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

⚽️ Ludogorets vs PAOK

🇪🇺 Europa League

⏰ Thursday 11 December, 17:45

Two clubs separated only by two points in the Europa League league phase table meet at the Huvepharma Arena on Thursday evening as 25th-placed Ludogorets hosts 17th-placed PAOK in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.

Ludogorets made a winning start to their league phase campaign, as they claimed a 1-2 win away to Malmo, but the Eagles went on to lose each of their next three at home to Real Betis and away at Young Boys and Ferencvaros.

However, Per-Matias Hogmo’s hosts claimed an impressive 3-2 victory over Celta Vigo despite a late fight back from the Galicians, meaning they sit outside the playoff places only on goal difference.

The Lazgrad outfit have taken 10 points from their last four Bulgarian First League matches, but their hopes of clinching a record-breaking 15th league crown on the bounce remain in serious doubt, as they are 10 points behind both Levski Sofia and CSKA 1948 Sofia, albeit with a game in hand.

PAOK began their league phase campaign by taking a solitary point from their opening two matches, as they followed up their goalless draw at home to Maccabi Tel Aviv by losing 3-1 in Galicia against Celta Vigo.

However, Razvan Lucescu’s visitors have gone on to take seven points from their next three Europa League contests, claiming a pair of high-scoring victories away at Lille and at home to Young Boys, but were denied a third straight win after conceding a late equaliser at home to Brann.

The Double-Headed Eagles are also going good guns domestically, as seven wins from their last eight Greek Super League matches have them in second position, just two points behind leaders Olympiakos.

Bet of the Day

Ludogorets’ previous eight continental clashes have averaged an eye-catching 3.75 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in seven (88%) of them (0-2, 1-2, 4-1, 2-1, 0-2, 2-3, 1-3 & 3-2).

PAOK's last 15 matches in all competitions have averaged an impressive 3.87 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in 12 (80%) of them – including in three of their last four in Europe (1-3, 4-3, 4-0 & 1-1) – and I’m hoping we see a repeat in Razgrad on Thursday night.
