Football Bet of the Day

After making it back-to-back winners in West London on Sunday, Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the Champions League, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

⚽️ Bodo/Glimt vs Sporting CP

🇪🇺 Champions League

⏰ Wednesday 11 March, 20:00

Bodo/Glimt welcome reigning Portuguese champions Sporting CP to the Aspmyra Stadion tomorrow evening in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.

Kjetil Knutsen’s hosts have scored 19 goals across their opening 10 Champions League proper matches this campaign, with 10 (53%) of them coming at their Arctic Circle base.

Glimt have found the back of the net in all but one of those 10 matches – notching on multiple occasions in an impressive eight (80%) of them – and will be confident of breaching a Sporting backline that has recorded a solitary shutout in the Champions League this season, shipping 2+ goals in 3/4 (75%) of their away matches.

Rui Borges’s visitors have scored 17 goals across their opening eight matches in the Champions League this season, with six (35%) of those coming on their travels.

The Leoes have found the back of the net in each of their opening eight continental clashes this term – striking two or more goals in five (63%) of them – and will look to continue that trend against a Bodo backline that has still yet to register a clean sheet in any of their opening 10 Champions League proper matches this season.

Bet of the Day

This promises to be an entertaining clash in the Arctic Circle on Wednesday night, and I’d be surprised if we didn’t see a few goals, with both teams contributing.

Goals have once again been a feature of Bodo/Glimt matches in Europe this campaign, with their opening 10 Champions League proper matches averaging an impressive 3.60 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 landing in nine (90%) of them.

Sporting’s opening eight matches in the Champions League this season have averaged an impressive 3.50 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score landing in seven (88%) of them – including in all four away from home – whilst seven (88%) have also gone Over 2.5 Goals.
