Following a quiet midweek since Sunday’s winner at Salford, Thd Football Bet of the Day returns on Thursday and sees me focus on the Euro 2024 qualification semi-finals, and there’s one match that appeals to me for goals at both ends.

Israel and Iceland go head-to-head in a Euro 2024 qualification semi-final in neutral Hungary tomorrow evening in a one-off tie in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Israel picked up 15 points from a possible 30 in qualifying (W4-D3-L3), but Alon Hazan’s men narrowly missed out on automatic qualification to Germany, as they’ve finished third in Group I, seven points behind group-winners Romania, but just two behind 2nd-placed Switzerland. The SkyBlue and Whites did the double over both Andorra and Belarus, but picking up a solitary point over their two meetings with Kosovo ultimately proved costly.
It’s fair to say Iceland had a pretty underwhelming qualifying campaign, as they finished 4th in group J, 12 points behind 2nd-placed Slovakia and even seven points behind Luxembourg in 3rd. Legendary Norwegian coach Åge Hareide has seen his side pick up just 10 points across their 10 qualifiers (W3-D1-L6), with two of their victories coming against minnows Lichtenstein, whilst the other came at home to the only other side below them in Group J, Bosnia.
Bet of the Day
Whilst I’m not generally a big fan of betting on international football, these two have been generally good for goals over the past few years, with both possessing plenty of attacking quality but also suspect defensively. The pair faced off in the Nations League in 2022, with both matches finishing 2-2, and I’m hoping we see a similarly entertaining encounter tomorrow night.
Both Teams to Score banked in 6/10 (60%) of Israel’s Euro 2024 qualifiers, including in 4/5 (80%) of them at ‘home’ – and given Iceland scored in 7/8 (88%) of their group matches when excluding meetings with top-dogs Portugal, but keeping a solitary clean sheet when excluding matches against minnows Lichtenstein – I’m happy to have a punt on both of these finding the target in neutral Hungary on Thursday night.
