Another international break has come to an end and that sound you hear is a million punters breathing a sigh of relief.

But the domestic action doesn’t return until Friday night so a few days to regroup before we go again.

We’ve also got a jam-packed European card to look forward to next midweek with the group stages of the Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League kicking-off.

Ahead of the weekend Fulham and Spurs look like they could make their way on to the shortlist. The Cottagers (4/6) host Luton Town and should be strong enough to land the spoils.

Ange Postecoglou’s men could rack up a few goals at home to newly promoted Sheffield United. They’re even money to score three or more.

Newcastle have a strong home record and will be popular on accas at 8/15 to beat Brentford.

In Scotland Dundee Utd will probably go off shorter than the 4/6 price they are currently to beat Morton as could Raith Rovers who are 3/4 to beat Inverness.

Matches in the Scottish Premiership look tough to call. Both Hearts and Aberdeen could do with a win when they meet at Tyencastle as they both attempt to get out of the bottom half of the table.

Whilst Motherwell v St Mirren seems 2nd v 3rd as two of the form teams meet at Fir Park.

We’ll be on goals at Falkirk v Queen of the South where Over 2.5 is backable at 8/11.

Just read liverpool never won an early Saturday game all last season drawing 3 and losing 3. Don’t watch much premier league stuff so just wondering if the 7/1 on Wolves could be a bit of value for a shock result? VVD will miss the game through suspension I think I read. Fitness doubts over the South American players also with Nunez just playing a few hours ago and having to travel back. I’m probably way off the mark but 7/1 it could be worth a small bet?
Had a rare racing bet today for those who like the horses. Posted thoughts on other thread. It should go close today.

Good luck everyone for the rest of the week might be back on Saturday.

Cheers for the input. Wonder if BTTS and over 2.5 match goals could be decent? Really short odds at 10/11 is best you can get at skybet for this. Wolves scored in their last 5 matches apart from Man u away. Liverpool defence has been really wobbly was surprised they kept a clean sheet against Villa. With the points made above you can see reason for Wolves to at least trouble Liverpool with at least a goal. Not my kind of price tbh but it could be for people who bet doubles etc.

Pools 2 aways performances haven’t been convincing drew 1-1 with Chelseain the opener but Chelsea were the better side and they somehow beat Newcastle who battered them for 80 minutes , they should have enough to beat wolves though.

Cheers as well. Was just thinking out loud before, that stat of no wins in the early ko games just jumped out at me maybe just made me see £ signs ha. Not sure what to do with it maybe just a fun £10 on Wolves win.

Drew with Chelsea who were the better side and then beat Newcastle who battered them for 80 mins. Chelsea first game of the season and Newcastle they had 10 men for most of the game and still came from behind to win 1-2 is that not impressive no??? there won’t be many big sides that go to Newcastle this season and come away with all 3 points.

Mate. I’m a Wolves fan through and through. I wouldn’t touch us. We can’t defend and we struggle to score. Liverpool are looking good and my bet would be Liverpool to score at least 3 goals. If looking at bet builders then wolves to get 2+ cards is always good…. Although the bookies are wise to our propensity to get booked.

      Honestly I wouldn’t touch us.

Brighton are the bet of the weekend for me at 21/10 at b365 they should punish this hapless Man Utd side which may consist of a centre back pairing of Johnny Evans and Harry Maguire. Fancy that they let Evans go years ago and re sign him at pension age, then you have Antony who should miss the game through for obvious reasons (well obvious if they play for Man Utd) lol. What a great club.

I dislike Utd as much as the next person but you can’t generalise a club based on the individual antics of Greenwood and Antony. In that case, Suarez biting / racist towards Evra, Bruce Grobbelaar match fixing and Stan Collymore beating his missus… Do these individuals values and lack of morales represent Liverpool? Of course not. Although the irony of all the above cases it was Liverpool who stood by a racist thug (albeit a very, very good player).

Mentioned it before, your tips, particularly related to the prem, are second to none but my god you have a chip on your shoulder regarding Utd. Let it go mate, you’ll feel better I promise.

Thanks mate, although Suarez wasn’t racist was he so Liverpool had every right to defend him. He was sold after the biting incident.

Not sure stating Brighton look bet of the weekend at 2/1 against Man Ure is out of order, yeah I had a dig but it’s in the blood, there’s plenty of digs come my way against my team.

I actually feel sorry for the bloke. He should move abroad and rebuild his career, but obviously the greed factor is preventing that….

    • maccathered 8 months ago

Yeah I think most feel sorry for him, the price tag put a lot of pressure on him and it doesn’t look like he’s been coached right, that’s evident anyway.

Swindon v Walsall Saturday 3 pm

Randomly came across a stat while studying tonight that Swindon have the 3rd worst XG-against for set pieces in the league. Looked at potential scorers from Walsall at big prices who were tall. Spotted Oisin McAntee, who is 6″3. He usually plays on the right side of centre half but it looks like he has been converted to a midfielder since last week. Headlines in the local Walsall paper seem to confirm he will be playing there from now on, watched video of manager after last week’s game and that seemed to confirm it also. He scored the winner and also got an assist in their win last weekend so every reason to believe he will be staying there. He has actually scored 3 goals in the last 8, scoring in the EFL trophy, the League Cup and last weeks winner against Salford.
From looking at the odds the bookies are pricing him as if he is still a defender. The other Walsall midfielders, Taylor Allen 18/1 and Ryan Stirk, who is more of a defensive midfielder from what I’ve seen, is 25/1. McAntee is a massive 33/1 to score first and 12/1 anytime which looks serious value especially considering he seems to be heavily involved in alot of their attacking play and also Swindon conceded 3 against Sutton last week. Sutton had only scored 2 goals in the their previous 5 games. Swindon have conceded 5 in their 3 games at home this season in the league.
Walsall have won back to back games and look like a side playing with alot of confidence. They thoroughly deserved their win against Salford last week. They have scored in every game in all competitions this season. Away from home their goals read 2,2,2,3,1. Every reason to think they can get at least 2 on Saturday. Priced up at 2/1 which looks very tempting. 7/1 for 3+.

McAntee’s height could be a real issue for Swindon and the odds are just too good to not have a go. Seems like the bookies have possibly not noticed his change in position. Wouldn’t be surprised if this price gets cut by Saturday.

    Likely bets

Walsall over 1.5 team goals 2/1 ( main bet)
Walsall over 2.5 team goals 7/1
    McAntee first goal 33/1
    McAntee anytime 12/1
