Here we go! The wait is over. 12 months later that planned, we're ready for a festival of football. Bring it on!
Euro 2020 kicks-off tonight in Rome where Italy host Turkey in the tournament curtain raiser. It's the first of 51 games over the next 30 days that'll culminate in Scotland being crowned European Champions on July 11th! 😉
But seriously, there's always something special about major football tournaments and although this is one will be held in a unique set of circumstances it promises to be a cracker with six or seven nations in with a serious chance of winning the 16th edition of the European Championships.
Many people's idea of a dark horse this time around are Turkey, who go into the tournament in fine goalscoring form. Senol Gunez' side have found the net on 14 occasions in their last six matches but come up against one of the most misrly defences in international football.
Roberto Mancini's side have conceded just once in their last ten, in a 1-1 draw with the Netherlands back in October. 2-0 has been a popular scoreline for the Azzuri and it's 11/2 to land again. Italy are short enough at 1/2 to win but to Win to Nil they're a bit more attractive at 11/10.
Dutchman Danny Makkelie will be the man in the middle and will no doubt look to keep a lid on the tournament opener but he has a reputation for pointing to the spot, awarding 0.56 penalties per match last season – effectively one every two matches. With VAR in play the 7/4 on penalty being awarded could pay on Friday and throughout the tournament.

Italy v Turkey
Intriguing opening game in Rome for the start of Euro 2020. Looking ahead there’s definitely value to be had siding with selected underdogs as we delve into the tournament.
Along with Portugal, Italy are a team I fancy to do well at this years tournament and they are my two picks to lift the trophy. Both are capable of nullifying France and Belgium when they meet or potentially meet as the tournament progresses.
In the opening game, at home it is easy to see why Italy are odds on favourite. However, I expect Turkey to rustle a few feathers and It wouldn’t surprise me if Turkey can grab some kind of result tonight. They are a team capable of finding the back of the net and I’m happy to take the value offered with BTTS at 7/5.

Hungary/Ireland game a loser earlier in the week and have struggled to get on much since ❌
Glad to see competitive games this weekend with the euros and some domestic leagues. Like the look of some of the euro tips especially France goals and on, but been having a good look as well for some potential value outwith the teams you’d expect to see in the latter stages.
I do like the look of Italy’s opponents tonight , and since late 2018 they seem to have found a formula that works for them, playing 26 games, scoring in 21, winning 15, drawing 9, and losing 2. Even more impressive when you consider that includes a win and a draw against France, a draw against Germany, a draw with Croatia and wins against Norway, Russia, and the Netherlands to name a few more. A bit of luck added to that and I reckon they could cause a few upsets. Won’t be going mad on these with it all being one team, but think some of the prices are appealing. Will be an interesting game against a solid Italy , but tournament openers can be good for some drama.
Not sure why iv taken a longshot on them to win though, Scotland already have this one in the bag 😅🏴

Guys, just noticed a significant change at PaddyPower on their BetBuilder (and ACCAs)
In the past, you have to have at LEAST 4 selections – each with minimum odds of 1.2. If one leg lost, you’d get your money back as a free bet.
It’s now been changed to at LEAST 4 selections – with a minimum TOTAL odds of 2.0 for the entire bet (i.e. no need for each leg to be minimum of 1.2)
Paddy does rig your choice of BetBuilder options a bit. But I’ve done some ‘like for like’ comparisons against Bet365 and Hills, and Paddy’s BetBuilder usually gives the best rates (although Paddy’s ‘normal’ rates for overs goals etc are usually quite mean)
