Best Tennis Tips and Predictions Today
Based on the latest tennis odds, here are the bets we're recommend you take this Thursday:
Shelton to Beat Shang 2-1 @ 3/1
Brace yourselves Atlanta tennis fans, because the Atlanta Open has served up a cracker of a Round of 16 match between top seed Ben Shelton and Chinese teenager Jerry Shang. We predict that Shelton will win this one–but there are great returns to be had if this one goes the distance.
These two have met twice before on the ATP Tour, which is rare considering Shang is still only 19. Thing is, Shang has won both of their previous meetings too. Something about his game, plus his teenage fearlessness, matches him up well against Shelton, who is used to being the young, fiery player.
This time last year, Shang beat Shelton here on his home court in Atlanta. Just days later, he also defeated him in Washington. Shelton will be laser focused on this match, and will have been plotting his revenge for the past year. He should get it done, but don’t be surprised if this is one of the matches of the tournament.
Berrettini -5.5 Handicap vs Moreno de Alboran @ 12/5
Over in Austria, Italy’s Matteo Berrettini takes on world No. 143 Nicolas Moreno de Alboran. It wasn’t that long ago that Berrettini himself was ranked outside of the top 100, but the reality is, the Italian is leagues above Moreno de Alboran.
After two tight matches–Berrettini has won 7-6, 7-6 in each of his clashes so far in Kitzbuhel–we predict that this one will be a stark contract. Expect Berrettini to come out firing and bully with his big weapons, ending this one quickly on Thursday.
