IT’S women’s semi-final day at Wimbledon and Ons Jabeur will be on a high after her revenge mission against Elena Rybakina.
The Tunisian avenged her defeat in last year’s showpiece but the bookies don’t fancy her to reach another final as they make Arnya Sabalenka an odds-on favourite today.
The Belarusian has dropped just one set in the entire tournament and is 8/13 at Bet365 to defeat Jabeur, who’s 7/5 with the same firm.
I can see this one going to three sets and that pays 27/20 at Unibet while backing the score to be 3-3 after six games is 17/10 with BoyleSports.
Czech star Marketa Vondrousova is also odds-on for the other semi at a best 3/4 with Unibet while Elina Svitolina is 23/20 at Betfair.
There’s been a tie-break in the Ukrainian’s last three games so betting on another in the semi could pay off at 7/4 with Bet365.
There are also Conference League qualifiers for punters to sink their teeth into, with plenty of Irish sides in action.
Dundalk are away to the Magpies but they don’t have to worry about taking on Eddie Howe’s star-studded side at St James’ Park.
These Magpies have their nest in Gibraltar and Dundalk are 13/20 favourites to head back to Ireland with a win.
Stephen O’Donnell’s side are in decent form, with four wins in their last six, so I’m backing them to be winning at half-time and full-time (31/20, Ladbrokes).
Crusaders are away to FC Haka and it’s a good time to face the Finns as they’re in terrible form.
Haka have gone nine games without a win, losing five of those matches, but are still hot favourites tonight at a best 3/4 with Betway.
Crusaders are 9/2 shots with LiveScoreBet but I’m going for under 2.5 goals in this one (evs, SkyBet) with Haka low on confidence.
Derry City are in the Faroes to take on Torshavn and it’s a tough one to call, with the Irish side 15/8 at Paddy Power and their hosts 33/20 at Unibet.
The half-time draw could be the shout here and that pays evens with William Hill.

My fancies for the Ladies semi finals today are:
Svitolina – Vondrousova
This is a very tough match to call. I am leaning towards a very slight edge for Svitolina but if Vondrousova serves well and hits lines then she will be difficult to beat. Both players have been holding serve well this tournament, nearly 80% for both in fact. However, the one edge I feel Svitolina could have in this match up is drawing errors from the forehand of Vondrousova, who has hit 41 more errors on her forehand compared to her backhand. That will be a key area for Svitolina to attack. Svitolina has also been far more aggressive and has hit 21 more winners than Vondrousova throughout the tournament, with most coming on her forehand. I just have a feel in this one that Svitolina will be able to draw more errors from the racket of Vondrousova. Another area that could be crucial in this match up is the second serve. Svitolina dominated 2nd serve points against Swiatek (won 67%) and if she can do this again it will put real pressure on the Vondrousova serve. Something to note is the number of double faults Vondrousova has committed in the previous 5 head to heads. This reads 2, 5, 5, 8, 5. So an average of 5. You would also have to think nerves could come in to play as well on such a big occasion.

Yeah was looking good at 3-3 as you say but Svitolina has imploded and just gifting this match away at the moment. So many unforced errors. Need her to turn this around to try and make it competitive.

My fancies for the second Ladies semi finals today are:
Jabeur – Sabalenka
Another tough one to call as you would expect at this stage of the tournament. I definitely feel as though whoever has the higher 1st serve percentage in this match will be the winner. So far Jabeur is only at 50% tournament average compared to 62% of Sabalenka. However, the Jabeur serve has seen a higher number of unreturned 1st serves at 51% in comparison to 43%. If Jabeur serves a high 1st serve percentage(well over 60-70%) then she has a great chance but if she continues at her tournament average then Sabalenka will get an awful lot of looks at her second serve and with her power will likely take control of the rallies. However, Jabeur does have the craft and variety to get Sabalenka moving like she did to Rybakina yesterday. I see this one being a very close match and struggling to pick a winner as so much will depend on the 1st serve. I would slightly favour Sabalenka based on her likely to have a higher 1st serve percentage. I can see however this being a long match so I am going to opt for games in this match up and either hope for a tie break or a three set match. This is a huge match for both players but in particular Sabalenka who can get the No1 world ranking with a win here. With this along with what should be a close match you would expect some nerves from Sabalenka especially as the crowd will heavily be in favour of Jabeur. In the previous 4 head to head matches Sabalenka has hit 6, 5, 7, 7 doubles. If this is close as expected than I feel a similar trend here. Likewise it is likely that Jabeur will hit at least 2-3 doubles (1,3,5,2 previous head to head).
