Player Form: Raducanu Turning Up the Heat
Raducanu was thrust into the spotlight at a young age when she won the US Open as a teenager. Understandably, this brought a few ebbs and flows in her career, as the Brit has struggled for consistent form ever since.
However, Raducanu is finding some great tennis in the last month. The 21-year-old made good runs in Nottingham and Eastbourne ahead of Wimbledon, including bagging her first top five win of the year over Jessica Pegula.
So far in London, she’s gone about her business clinically. Both Renata Zarazua and Elise Mertens were dispatched in straight sets, with the latter for the loss of only three games.
Sakkari hasn’t looked so sharp. The Greek came to Wimbledon riding a four-match losing streak, after losing first-round in Paris and not winning at all in her two grass lead-in events. She’s managed to find some form though, defeating McCartney Kessler and Arantxa Rus in straight sets to make it to the third round.
