Stuttgart will take on Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday, 10 November as part of the final round of Bundesliga fixture before the November international break.
The hosts have failed to live up to the heights they reached last season so far, and are currently sitting in eighth position in the league table.
Eintracht Frankfurt, meanwhile, are enjoying a brilliant campaign both at home and in Europe and currently sit in third position in the Bundesliga.
How the bookies view it: The hosts start as favourites
Despite currently being four points behind Frankfurt in the league table, Stuttgart are considered the favourites for this match. Betfred have priced a home win at 9/10 while a victory for Eintracht Frankfurt has been priced at 13/5. The draw, which wouldn't be a bad result for either team, has been priced at 3/1.
Recent head-to-head: Even stevens
There isn't too much to learn from looking at the recent record in matches between these two teams as both Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt have enjoyed success against each other in recent times. Out of the five most recent clashes, both clubs have enjoyed two wins apiece and one draw which adds more weight to the idea that it could go either way on Sunday.
Players to watch: Marmoush's stock continues to rise
Last season, it was Stuttgart who had a striker who wrestled with Harry Kane for the Golden Boot in Germany with Serhou Guirassy netting 26 goals in the league. That form earned Guirassy a move to Borussia Dortmund this summer and his trajectory is being repeated this season by Eintracht Frankfurt's Omar Marmoush.
The Egyptian striker has always been blessed with immense talent but the 25-year-old has exploded into life for Frankfurt this season. Marmoush has scored ten goals in nine league appearances so far while he has also been brilliant in Europe – scoring two goals and providing one assists in four Europa League appearances.
Marmoush just needs two more goals to match the league tally he managed last season and it isn't inconceivable that he gets both of them on Sunday. If he does, then rumours of a big-money move to Liverpool next summer are only going to intensify.
Predicted line-ups
Stuttgart have been dealt a huge blow this week with the news that defender, Dan-Axel Zagadou, will be out until February at the earliest. Striker, Deniz Undav is also a doubt for this one. Eintracht Frankfurt have defensive issues, too, with Arthur Teate and Rasmus Kristensen both injured. Midfielder, Oscar Hojlund, is also unavailable.
Stuttgart: Nubel – Vagnoman, Rouault, Chabot, Mittelstadt – Millot, Stiller, Karazor, Stiller, Fuhrich – Toure, Undav
Eintracht Frankfurt: Trapp – Collins, Tuta, Koch, Amenda – Knauff, Skhiri, Dahoud, Skhiri, Nkounkou – Marmoush, Ekitike
Anything else catch the eye?
Stuttgart have been struggling in front of goal in recent weeks so their best chance of picking up a result on Sunday will be to bunker down and keep things tight, especially with Marmoush lurking. Fewer than three goals have been scored in six of their last nine matches in all competitions while the same can be said for three of Frankfurt's last five.
Under 2.5 goals to be scored on Sunday has been priced at 7/4 by Betfred.
