St Johnstone vs Kilmarnock

, KO: 15:00 , McDiarmid Park
Kilmarnock

It's do or die now for St Johnstone in the SPFL Premiership relegation battle and anything other than a win when Kilmarnock come calling will leave them staring down the barrel of relegation.

After losing 3-2 at Motherwell last week, with a full house of bets landing for our man Greg, Saints find themselves six points adrift of second-bottom Ross County with just four games still to play.

With their next two fixtures being held at McDiarmid Park, all hope is not yet lost for Simo Valakari's men but they face a tough game against a Killie side buoyed by a 2-0 win over County in their last outing.

Greg came up trumps again in that match, with all three bets coming up, and it was a big win for Derek McInnes' men as it moved them nine points clear of St Johnstone.

Kilmarnock are still only three points clear of the relegation play-off slot though so McInnes will be desperate to secure a bit more breathing space by banking three precious points in Perth.

How the bookies view it: Saints too big at 2/1

With relegation hanging over their heads, St Johnstone are 2/1 outsiders at BoyleSports but that looks overpriced given they've won five of their last seven at home, including a 1-0 victory over champions Celtic. Killie are 13/10 favourites and the draw pays 2/1.

Recent head to head: Hell on Perth for Killie

This is the fourth meeting of these sides this season and St Johnstone have the upper hand, with two wins and one defeat. Kilmarnock won 2-0 in Perth last season but have lost on five of their last six visits.

Players to watch: Mak the knife

Makenzie Kirk was denied a wonder goal in St Johnstone's Scottish Cup semi-final loss to Celtic thanks to a VAR review but he was on the scoresheet last weekend in the loss at Fir Park. The youngster looks like a player with a bright future and he's overpriced at 22/5 with Unibet for another goal here.

Danny Armstong has been a disappointment this season for Kilmarnock after such an impressive campaign last time out. But he scored in the 5-1 loss at Celtic Park then followed it up with a man-of-the-match display against Ross County last week. The winger is 27/5 at Unibet for anytime scorer but is more likely to provide an assist once that market is priced up.

Probable line-ups

St Johnstone continue to have injury issues in defence, with Zach Mitchell, Bozo Mikulic and Drey Wright set to miss out again along with Sam McClelland.

Key Kilmarnock striker Kyle Vassell returned from injury last week but didn't come off the bench. He might get a run-out here but Kyle Magennis and Tom Wilson-Brown are set to be sidelined.

St Johnstone: Fisher, Balodis, Sprangler, Curtis, Holt, Carey, Steven, Duke-McKenna, Kimpioka, McPake, Kirk.

Kilmarnock: O'Hara, Ndaba, Mayo, Deas, Findlay, Armstrong, Watson, Donnelly, Watkins, Murray, Anderson.

Anything else catch the eye?

St Johnstone need to go for it so it bodes well for goals, especially after they lost a 3-2 thriller at Fir Park last time out. Over 2.5 strikes looks good value at 23/20 with BoyleSports while adding on BTTS boosts the odds to 8/5.

Midfielder Sven Sprangler had to play in defence last week with Saints so short of bodies at the back. He has collected nine yellows so far this term so could be worth a punt for another card when that market is priced up.

We saw 18 corners when these sides last faced off in Perth, with 14 of them going to Killie. So over 11.5 corners could be worth a punt at 11/10 with BetVictor while over five first-half corners pays 11/8 at Bet365.
