Leipzig's last-gasp 4-3 win at Istanbul Basaksehir coupled with the Red Devils 3-1 reverse at home to PSG has set up a grandstand finish in Group H.
Julian Naglesmann's enterprising young side are almost-certainly entering must-win territory on Tuesday night, whereas United only need a point to safely secure their passage through to the knockout stages.
The Red Bulls warmed up for this crucial clash by demonstrating their big-game mettle in a frantic and at times breathless 3-3 draw with Bayern Munich on Saturday.
Manchester United, meanwhile, came from behind to beat West Ham 3-1 at the London Stadium last weekend, a result which kept the Red Devils remarkable 100% Premier League road record intact.
However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side were fortunate not to find themselves more than a goal behind on Saturday before staging a second-half comeback, so they may have to sharpen up here if they are to avoid a shock group stage exit in the Champions League.

Both of my recommended bets landed when PSG put Manchester United to the sword last Tuesday night and I like the look of siding with a similar betting angle in this make-or break showdown.
If we combine both teams to score, over five match corners and each to collect at least one card we will be presented with a 4/5 punt, and that Bet Builder makes appeal.
All five of United's Group H outings to date have featured three or more goals and four of those five fixtures have ended with both sides getting on the scoreboard.
What's more, four of Leipzig's last five matches across all competitions have seen both teams oblige and I fancy goals to flow when the Red Bulls lock horns with the Red Devils in Leipzig.
When digging slightly deeper it can be seen that the above-mentioned Bet Builder has landed in four of Man United's five Champions League matches this season and I see no reason to oppose a repeat here given the amount of attacking talent that will be on show.
What's more, card-happy referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz will take charge of this clash and although the Spanish whistler left his cards at home last midweek, I suspect he could be in for a busy night at the Red Bull Arena.
