Lazio vs UdineseSerie A, KO: 19:45 Dec 2, 2021, Stadio Olimpico
After the hammering at Napoli, Lazio will be keen to get their campaign back on track as they host Udinese in an Italian Serie A fixture. The visitors also appear to be struggling at the moment and are likely to come away from the Stadio Olimpico empty-handed.
Given the open nature of Serie A this season, Lazio were one of the teams in contention in the early stages following an impressive start. They have however fallen away in recent weeks with a Champions League finish looking like a more realistic target.
Lazio are coming off their biggest defeat of the season after suffering a 4-0 loss to leaders Napoli. Maurizio Sarri’s men were second best to the Neapolitans throughout the contest and could only muster just two attempts on target.
Despite the disappointment of that defeat, Lazio will still go into Thursday’s clash with some confidence given their solid record at the Stadio Olimpico. They have claimed five wins in seven home matches this term with their biggest win of the campaign – a 6-1 victory over Spezia – also coming on their own turf.
Udinese are doing even worse than Lazio at the moment and have claimed just one win from their last 11 Serie A matches. They have been on a steady decline down the table and are now 14th, just five points above the relegation zone.
Luca Gotti’s men travel to Lazio of the back of a 0-0 draw by Genoa in their previous Serie A fixture. They had the better chances with Beto also hitting the woodwork but in the end could not find the breakthrough.
Udinese have also struggled on their travels this season and are winless in their last five away matches. They have lost the last two matches in that run and were beaten 2-1 by Torino in their previous fixture on the road.
How the bookies view it
Head to head
Lazio have a 31-13 advantage with 11 draws from 55 previous matches against Udinese. They have also won four of the last six fixtures and claimed a 1-0 victory in the most recent meeting between both teams back in March.
