DUNDEE UNITED saw their recent good run ended when Duncan Ferguson returned to Tannadice to guide his Caley Thistle side to a draw at the weekend.
And they face a Friday night test this week when they travel to Fife to face a Dunfermline team who gained a huge confidence booster with their first win in four games last Friday in another televised clash.
Jim Goodwin's side had been in sensational goalscoring form after rattling in five at Partick Thistle and six against Arbroath, but were surprisingly held to a draw by Inverness, after a midweek win at Airdrie.
They remain four points clear at the top of the Championship although Raith Robers have a game in hand.
The Pars went through a sticky patch with those losses where they failed to score too but soon rectified that in Greenock when Owen Moffat netted the first of his two goals after 20 seconds as they held off a Morton fightback to secure a huge three points.
And there's sure to be a bumper East End Park crowd to cheer both teams on.
How the bookies view it
Dundee United are strong odds-on favourites here at 13/20 with McBookie.com
Dunfermline can be backed at 4/1 with 888Sport and the draw is 3/1 with bet365.
Recent head to heads
Dunfermline came within seconds of taking all three points when the sides met at Tannadice earlier this season but Utd snatched a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw and defeated the Pars 3-0 in a Challenge Cup kickabout.
There was a win apiece for the sides at East End Park when they were last both in the Championship four years ago.
Players to watch
Owen Moffat certainly grabbed the headlines after that encounter at Cappielow on Friday with his two early goals. He is 15/4 to score anytime with bet365.
Louis Moult has already bagged eight for the season and is a class above this level when fully fit. He is 7/5 to score anytime with bet365.
Anything else catch the eye?
Dundee United should really win the title at an absolute canter with the squad they have. With the likes of Moult, Tony Watt, Declan Gallagher and Glenn Middleton etc, it's really a Premiership top six squad they have who are somehow stuck in the second tier.
They will have their occasional blip, but should be too strong for a Dunfermline side who will be perfectly fine in the league.
There are usually goals with United involved so back the visitors to win and over 2.5 goals at 29/20 with McBookie.com.
Expect United to put down a statement of intent too early on and back them to win half time and full time with Paddy Power at 8/5.
