DUNDEE UNITED entertain St Mirren this week and both sides should go into this full of confidence after excellent outcomes last weekend.
The hosts have proved plenty of critics wrong so far this season and sit in fourth place – an excellent position given they are newly promoted.
Already they have probably done enough to avoid getting dragged into the relegation dogfight many predicted them to be in and they were delighted last week when they dug out a hard-fought point at Ibrox against Rangers following a 1-1 draw.
It followed a fine 3-0 home win against Ross County and they must now be looking at a top six finish as the target.
St Mirren have really come into form recently and ended Aberdeen's long unbeaten run in the league on Saturday with a 2-1 win in Paisley.
They were strong and physical and their direct play rattled Aberdeen.
After a disappointing start to the season and several off-field issues, Saints have really got back on track recently with three wins and a draw taking them back to a top six spot and Stephen Robinson's side will be looking to kick on now.
How the bookies view it: Saints underdogs
Dundee United are fairly solid favourites here and they are as short as evens in places although you can get some 23/20 with bet365.
St Mirren can be backed at 5/2 with William Hill and the draw is 49/20 with UniBet.
Recent head to heads: United on top
Dundee United have twice defeated St Mirren already this season with a pair of 1-0 wins home and away in the League Cup and in the league.
United are unbeaten in their last three meetings.
Players to watch: Sam the man
Sam Dalby has been a good signing for Jim Goodwin's men and the on loan Wrexham striker has scored in his last four games. He's in fine form and is a big price at 3/1 to make it four in a row with bet365.
Toyosi Olusanya netted his seventh goal of the season last week against Aberdeen and he is also 3/1 to score anytime with bet365. That could be a spot of value at Tannadice.
Predicted line-ups
United are set to be without injured trio Ross Graham, Kristijan Trapanovski and Craig Sibbald.
Saints will be missing defenders Charles Dunne and Alex Iacovitti.
Dundee United: Walton, Strain, Gallagher, Holt, Ferry, Babunski, Fotheringham, Sevelj, Middleton, Dalby, Stephenson.
St Mirren: Balcombe, Bwomono, Fraser, Gogic, Taylor, Tanser, Phillips, O'Hara, McMenamin, Kiltie, Olusanya.
Anything else catch the eye?
Both sides will be in a good place going into this, but the odds do seem more weighted in favour of the hosts than should be.
St Mirren are steadily improving and if they can put behind them their poor recent record against United, they can gain revenge at a big price.
They looked a real team against Aberdeen last week and are likely to stay in that top six.
As fine a result, United produced at Ibrox last week, it should be remembered that they still conceded 21 shots with nine on target against Rangers and it was only a combination of the usual poor finishing from the hosts and an inspired goalkeeping display from Jack Walton that earned them the point.
