Brighton and Hove Albion vs Nottingham Forest

, KO: 17:15 , Amex Stadium
Nottingham Forest

Brighton and Hove Albion copped a 7-0 beating when they last faced Nottingham Forest but the Seagulls have the perfect chance for revenge when the teams do battle in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

That 7-0 thrashing at the City Ground in early February had the potential to knock Brighton's season off track as it came hard on the heels of another loss at home to struggling Everton.

But the response from Fabian Hurzeler's side has been hugely impressive, with a seven-game unbeaten run firing them into contention for a top-four Premier League finish and a shot at Wembley glory.

They claimed an impressive 2-1 extra-time win at Newcastle in the last round of the FA Cup, with two bets landing for me, but now face another tough tie against flying Forest.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side have been the story of the season and it's a throwback to the Brian Clough days with Forest sitting third in the table and battling for silverware.

They've needed penalties to see off Exeter and Ipswich in the last two rounds of the FA Cup but will fancy their chances on the south coast after that 7-0 thrashing in the last meeting.

How the bookies view it: Seagulls to get their revenge

I reckon this cup tie is a 50/50 affair but the bookies see it differently, with Brighton 2/5 hot favourites to qualify at BoyleSports and just 3/4 for a win in 90 minutes.

Nottingham Forest look overpriced at 9/5 to qualify and the odds increase to 14/5 if you back them to do it in normal time. The stalemate at 90 minutes will be popular at 13/5.

Recent head to head: Rout of the blue

That 7-0 rout in February was a big surprise as this fixture has been pretty keenly contested. The last 12 meetings have produced five Brighton wins, four Forest victories and three draws. It was a 2-2 stalemate when Santo's side came calling on Premier League duty earlier this season.

Players to watch: Joao with the flow

Joao Pedro's return to form has coincided with Brighton's surge up the Premier League and the Brazilian has netted three times in his last six outings. He's 7/4 at BoyleSports for another strike in the FA Cup and 21/20 with Bet365 to score or assist.

No player has more Premier League assists in 2025 than Anthony Elanga, with the Forest winger setting up five goals. He also has 27 goal involvements since the start of last season so the Swede should be a threat here. He's 2/1 to either score or assist in this cup tie.

Probable line-ups

Brighton still have a host of players sidelined, with Igor Julio, Ferdi Kadioglu, James Milner and Jason Steele ruled out. They also have doubts over Lewis Dunk, Joel Veltman, Matt O'Riley, Tariq Lamptey and Solly March. It will be interesting to see if Pervis Estupinan and Karou Mitoma start after long flights back from international duty.

Top scorer Chris Wood is a doubt for Nottingham Forest after picking up an injury with New Zealand. Carlos Miguel is also injured while Santo faces a dilemma over Murillo and Ola Aina with the defenders having also only just returned from long-haul flights.

Brighton and Hove Albion: Verbruggen, Webster, Van Hecke, Estupinan, Minteh, Baleba, Mitoma, Ayari, Rutter, Hinshelwood, J Pedro.

Nottingham Forest: Sels, Williams, Milenkovic, Morato, Moreno, Dominguez, Anderson, Elanga, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi, Awoniyi.

Anything else catch the eye?

Brighton's style of football suited Nottingham Forest perfectly in the last meeting and the Seagulls were ruthlessly punished by swift counter attacks. So Santo's side look decent value in the double chance for this one at 20/21 with BoyleSports.

Both meetings so far this season have been pretty fiery, with 12 yellows and one red dished out. With a place in the semis up for grabs this one also has the potential to boil over and over 47.5 booking points pays 11/10 at Betfred.

Brighton won 9-1 on the corner count when Forest last came calling so backing the Seagulls at -2.5 in the corner handicap also appeals at 23/20 with BoyleSports.
