Belarus vs Greece

, KO: 19:45 , ZTE Arena
Greece

Tuesday's World Cup qualifier between Belarus and Greece looks like the deadest of dead rubbers, with both teams having only pride to play for in a game being held in neutral Hungary.

But these nations were involved in two weekend thrillers when they also had nothing at stake so it's hard to know what to expect when they lock horns tonight.

Greece's Group C campaign was effectively doomed after they let a 1-0 lead slip at Hampden last month as Scotland rallied to claim an improbable 3-1 victory that brought up a goals bet for Mark.

Another 3-1 loss to Denmark just days later ended Greece's hopes of a top-two finish, which was a big disappointment as they headed into the campaign with hopes of topping the group.

But the Greeks got their revenge on the Scots with a 3-2 win on Saturday night, bringing up two bets for Greg, and will now want to finish with another victory.

Belarus have also picked up form towards the end of their campaign, having slumped to demoralising defeats in their first three qualifiers.

They were unlucky to lose 2-1 at Hampden last month then did the Scots a huge favour by claiming a shock 2-2 draw in Copenhagen on Saturday night, busting the coupon of Greg and countless other punters.

Carlos Alos' players will now be out to get their first win in Group C as they seek to build confidence ahead of the next qualifying campaign.

How the bookies view it: Belarus too big at 11/1

Belarus look a bit overpriced at 11/1 with BOYLE Sports, given form has now picked up. Greece are 3/10 favourites and the draw pays 4/1.

Head to head: Greeks out to do the double

Greece romped to a 5-1 win over Belarus when these sides met in Piraeus earlier in the group. That was the first competitive meeting of these nations, with two previous friendlies producing a win apiece.

Players to watch: Tetteh a livewire

Andrews Tetteh impressed off the bench against Scotland after replacing the injured Vangelis Pavlidis. He should get a start here and the powerful forward could be worth a punt when prices land for the player markets.

Valeri Gromyko scored for Belarus in Denmark and the Kairat forward is getting plenty of top-level experience in the Champions League this season. He could be his nation's best hope of a goal here.

Probable line-ups

Greek striker Pavlidis is a big doubt after limping off against Scotland while skipper Tasos Bakasetas is banned after his red card on Saturday.

Belarus may freshen things up after such a draining game with the Danes.

Belarus: Lapoukhov, Parkhomenko, Kalinin, Pyachenin, Malkevich, Ebong, Demchenko, Kontsevoy, Gromyko, Barkovsky, Vardanyan.

Greece: Tzolakis, Vagiannidis, Koulierakis, Rota, Tsimikas, Zafiris, Triantis, Kourbelis, Karetsas, Tzolis, Tetteh.

Anything else catch the eye?

Dead rubbers are always tricky from a punter's point view but it's usually best to bet against a thriller.

Even though Greece scored five when they last faced Belarus, motivation could be an issue for this one so I fancy an away win with under 3.5 goals at 21/20 with BOYLE Sports.

If the Greeks score a couple of early goals, this game could easily peter out so backing most action to come in the first half may pay off a decent price of 11/5 with BOYLE Sports.

With neither side having anything to play for, I'm also going to bet against a goal in each half at 5/4 with the same firm.
