ASTON VILLA will be looking to break another Villa Park record when they play host to Sheffield United in the Premier League on Friday night.
The high-flying Villians set a new club record of 15 consecutive home league wins with a 1-0 win over Arsenal a fortnight ago, in a game that brought up my Bet Builder.
Unai Emery’s side have since battled to a 2-1 win away at Brentford, further solidifying the notion that Villa could be the real in this season’s title race.
In fact, another home win over Sheffield United on Friday would send Aston Villa to the summit of the standings, at least temporarily.
After picking up a morale-boosting 1-0 win over Brentford at Bramall Lane two weeks ago, the Blades were brought back down to earth in a 2-0 loss at Chelsea last weekend.
As such, Chris Wilder’s side remain bottom of the table and they can expect little in the way of respite when they head to the west Midlands this weekend.
Outright Betting
Aston Villa are red-hot 1/5 favourites with Bet 365 as they look to make more Villa Park history.
Sheffield United are the only side in the Premier League without an away win this season, and the bookies odds understandably suggest those away day blues will continue, with the visitors big outsiders at 14/1 (UniBet) while the draw is also deemed improbable at 13/2 (UniBet).
Betting Angles
With Aston Villa unbackable at the above-mentioned price, I’ll get creative via the Bet Bet builder and bundle up Over 1 Aston Villa Goal, Gustavo Hamer to commit a foul and Over 0 Sheffield United Cards at 4/5 (Bet 365).
Not only have Villa become a winning machine at Villa Park, but they have been thrilling the home faithful with a number of impressive attacking performances for good measure.
The Villans have smashed in a league-high 25 goals across their opening eight Premier League home games of the season, delivering multiple strikes on six of those occasions.
While Sheffield United have shown some signs of life under returning boss Chris Wilder, they still hold the unenviable tag as the leakiest defence in the division, filing just one clean sheet in 17 outings, none of which have come away from Bramall Lane.
As such, I’ll back in-form Villa to strike twice here, but to increase the odds, I’ll also go with Sheffield United’s Gustavo Hamer to commit a minimum of one foul.
The Dutch midfielder is averaging 1.3 fouls per-game in the Premier League this season, tackling his way into trouble in all bar one of his 16 top-flight outings this term to date.
For the final leg of the Bet Builder, I’ll back the rock-bottom visitors to receive at least one card during this Friday night fixture.
The Steel City outfit have racked up a league-high average of 3.29 yellow cards per 90 in the Premier League this season, picking up at least one caution in each of their 17 assignments this season so far.
Elsewhere, I’ll also back Aston Villa’s John McGinn to register a shot on target at 10/11 with UniBet.
This bet would have paid out in each of the flying Scotsman’s last three Premier League appearances and siding with the same selection on Friday night looks worth taking when travel-sick Sheffield United come to town.
