ARSENAL's revival under Mikel Arteta is gathering pace and the Gunners will be confident of picking up another victory when they welcome Olympiakos to the Emirates on Thursday night.
A late Alexandre Lacazette goal in Greece will see Arsenal return to London defending a 1-0 lead and firmly in the driving seat to land a place in the last-16 of the Europa League.
Winning Europe's secondary club competition was widely regarded as Arsenal's best route into next season's Champions League, however, after edging out Everton 3-2 on Sunday, the capital club will firmly believe that they can make a late surge to gatecrash the Premier League's top-four.
Arteta has avoided defeat in all but one of the 12 games that he has taken charge of and the Spaniard appears to be lifting some of the long-standing clouds that have lingered in the red half of north London in recent seasons.
Arsenal's win in Athens marked Olympiakos' first defeat in 19 matches, however, Pedro Martins men bounced back by picking up a 1-0 win away at second-placed PAOK on Sunday – a result which put the Piraeus club five points clear at the summit of the Greek Super League.
Olympiakos were competitive and spirited against both Spurs and Bayern Munich in this season's Champions League and the the Greek giants will take confidence from their showing in north London last Autumn.
The Betting Odds
Arsenal are odds-on favourites at 8/15 with Betfred to put the Greeks to the sword, while a draw – an outcome that would fire the Gunners into the last-16 – is priced at 7/2 with the same firm.
Only a win will do for Olympiakos and that outcome is deemed unlikely at 11/2 with Bet 365.
The Betting Angles
After grabbing a goal in Greece, Alexandre Lacazette could be restored to the starting XI on Thursday night and I like the look of the 13/10 (Ladbrokes) on offer the Frenchman to strike in the second-leg.
The Gunners forward ended a barren run by making the net bulge against Newcastle before notching last week and the majority of Lacazette's strikes have come at the Emirates this term.
I successfully tipped Arsenal to score two or more goals at home to Everton last weekend and although a repeat here looks slightly short at a general 8/13, adding four or more Arsenal corners and one Olympiakos card is much more appealing at 4/5 with Bet 365.
Arsenal have scored two or more goals in four of their last six outings and given that Olympiakos must score on Thursday night, the Gunners could capitalize by picking off the Piraeus outfit on the counter-attack.
What's more, Olympiakos have shipped nine goals on their travels in this season's Champions League – including four in north London against Tottenham – and given the wealth of attacking talent that Arteta has at his disposal, I fully expect Arsenal to get the job done and continue their unbeaten start to 2020.
With that in mind, I'm also attracted to the 4/5 (Betfred) on offer for Arsenal to win and for there to be over 1.5 match goals scored at the Emirates – a bet that would have banked profit in five of the six victories that Arteta has overseen thus far.
