Our Emma Navarro vs Coco Gauff prediction and betting tips will show why the former is far more likely to win the match. The odds might not be on her side, but Emma Navarro looks far better than Gauff in New York this week.
They actually played on the Grand Slam level before, and Navarro won that match. We’ll explain why we think she’ll do it again.
Contents
These two players arrived at the US Open in very different moods. On one hand, we have Gauff, who looked dreadful leading into it but better overall in New York. On the other hand, we have Navarro, who looked amazing coming into it and is arguably even better here.
It’s just a complete form mismatch between players who have had very different summers. Gauff’s been pretty lacklustre, while Navarro has been utterly brilliant, and that’s possibly even underselling it.
How the bookies view it: Gauff the minor favourite
While Gauff is a far bigger name, she’s not getting as much respect as some might think. She is the favourite, but a relatively minor one, and for good reason. Navarro has looked better.
Navarro also beat the American in their previous match. So, Gauff's odds to win are at 3/5, while Navarro’s is 8/5, which are really solid odds for a match that is generally 50-50.
Recent head-to-head: Tied at 1-1
The pair’s first match was this year in Auckland, and was won by Gauff pretty easily. The second one at Wimbledon this year was, however, won by Navarro, and it wasn’t close.
Navarro has improved dramatically over the past months after playing Tour-level opposition. Gauff, on the other hand, has mostly regressed lately.
Anything else catch the eye?
Both players' forms are pretty different. Navarro is enjoying her best tennis so far in her career, while Gauff is struggling with her baseline play, and her serve isn’t that impressive either.
Overall, we have one player who is playing really well and won their most recent matchup, while the other is playing even worse than the last time they played.
We’re going with Navarro over Gauff because she’s simply played much better lately and looks very confident in her performance so far.
Those willing to risk more can even opt for the 2-0 for Navarro because she’s been that better. It’s not unrealistic for her to win in straight sets.
- Navarro to win @ 8/5
- Navarro 2-0 @ 4/1
