THE excitement is starting to build with the first World Cup semi-final tonight followed by England v Croatia tomorrow.
First up it's France v Belgium and I've posted a separate preview while Scott Allot has also put up tips on the game.
It's not an easy one to call but hopefully one full of thrills and spills and I'm going for goals.
Tonight also sees the start of the Champions League qualifiers for teams such as Celtic, Cork, Crusaders and TNS. I've posted a separate preview of the Alashkert v Celtic game and picked out a double that will hopefully land.
Celtic are ranked 270 places above the Armenians if this wasn't their first competitive game I'd be expecting them to win by three or four. Brendan Rodgers says he'll go with French pair Odsonne Edouard and Moussa Demeble up top and has hailed their fitness levels.
If they're in the mood and Celtic can handle the stifling conditions they should cover the -1 handicap.
Malmo should also win by at least two at Kosovan minnows Drita. The Swedes returned from a four-week break at the weekend to beat Sirius 4-0 with Markus Rosenborg hitting two and will expect to put away the Euro rookies.

Taking goals in such a massive game (and it is a big game by the way) is not logical,both team will be nervous and a cagey affair looks very likely.

I agree with Macca, history suggests most semi finals are cagey affairs however it’s been so different this world cup I wouldn’t be supprised if this one bucks the trend. Just heading down to The Smoke for a couple of days which means I’ll be watching both semi final games whilst supping overpriced beer with hordes of arrogant w*nkers but hey ho.
Given the make-up of both sides, I just can’t see that even the nerves in a game of this magnitude will be able to negate the natural affinity for attacking football from both sides.
Players of Hazard’s, De Bruyne’s class and Pogba’s/Mbappe’s youth and tenacity don’t know the meaning of nerves and reckon it will be end to end football and one hell of match.

You mean like Belgium v Brazil,when in the second half Belgium could barely walk and were battered by Brazil,it’s a world cup semi final they don’t come much bigger,don’t now how you can put 4 stars just because who is on display,this game will be more tactical than ever and i’m pretty sure both teams will try and conserve energy for the latter part of the game,again i might be wrong so best of luck.

Difficult calling some of these CL qualifiers but I’d imagine TNS would see a draw as a brilliant result.
I read the Macedonians had lost just three of their last 12 Euro ties at home so not an easy place to go.

It happens more and more – it’s not how much you’re winning or losing, it’s the type of bets you are doing.
If you do mainly singles, goals bets, inplay bets, etc and not much WDW they will class you as a shrewdie.
Bookies want people who are going to lose – not clever punters.
What’s your opinions on this practise Mr F? Personally I think it’s shocking, if a bookmakers is offering single bets in any market then they shouldnt be allowed too banish or restrict customers accounts just because said punter has a strategy too do what we all wish and beat the bookie
I used to get quite angry about but at the end of the day if someone doesn’t want my business I’ll take it elsewhere.
Luckily there are loads of bookies willing to take you on.
Also whether we like it or not bookies are businesses like any other. They are servicing shareholders and their main aim is to make money.
Interesting I tend to do all accas through bet 365 but spread horses and dogs where the odds are best. Might start spreading those about to as I am well up in bet 365 (not on football accas though?). I’ll make sure I spread the large accas about a bit.
One thing I have discovered today is not to place your bets through Oddschecker use it to find best odds but if you use the link in Oddschecker you are automatically classed as shrewd.

Putting my eggs firmly in one basket today but I believe I’ve seen enough of Belgium in the WC to conclude that they are the eventual winners. From top to bottom they are exceptionally strong and they seem to be peaking at the right time. At the back they’ve got the well drilled duo of Vertonghen and Alderweireld, Fellaini & Witsel just in front protecting and shutting down attacks (Neymar, Jesus and Coutinho were suffocated by these two) De Bruyne playmaking, Hazard launching quick counters along with the strength, hold up play and finishing of Lukaku. It’s almost like Premier League football on an International stage with Belgium and for me its the superior style of the two teams.
In all of Belgium’s games they’ve played well (including the 3-2 win against Japan who, to be fair, scored two cracking goals). The same can’t be said for France who looked very ordinary against Australia, scored only once against Peru, conceded three to a poor Argentinian side and disposed of Uruguay via a penalty and a keeper mistake. Mbappe and Griezmann will be the obvious threats for France but if Fellaini & Witsel are able to marshall these two in the same way they did to Neymar and co then it will be a severe blow to France’s attack. For me there is only one winner and it will be Belgium marching on to the Final on Sunday.
