ALL three favourites won on Monday and while I tipped all three I was unlucky with my main bets.
While I backed Harry Kane to score first for England my Super Single was Romelu Lukaku to break the deadlock in the Belgium game but he netted second and third.
The Daily Double was on Belgium and England to win to nil but Kyle Walker's flailing elbow conceded a penalty and Tunisia took full advantage to sink my bet.
Coral have cut England from 12-1 to 10-1 to win the World Cup with Brazil 4-1 favourites ahead of Spain at 9-2.
Spokesman David Stevens said: “Gareth Southgate's men left it late to secure the win over Tunisia but win they did and it's a victory that could spark the patriotic plunge we have seen so often in the past on England sides at major tournaments.”
The first round of matches are completed today with Poland v Senegal and Colombia v Japan while the second round starts with Russia v Egypt and a likely World Cup baptism for Liverpool striker Mo Salah who missed the opener against Uruguay.

Japan are similar in stature to south Korea and will be enthusiastic while being toothless up front.
Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the first 0-0 but Colombia might sneak it 1 or 2-0.
No African side has scored from open play yet but I fancy senegal will against a bang average Poland side.

I’m on Btts here 6-5 (hills), with senegal not losing the game 1-1 or 2-1 to senegal.
I backed Egypt pre tournament to beat Russia in this game at 4-1 and to join uruguay in the top two at 7-2, then salah got injured.
As Egypt now need to win with a clearly unfit salah (injections in the shoulder no doubt) I will today be on Btts at 6-5 (hills)..
It’s all about the 1st goal, if Egypt score I expect them to catch Russia on the break and score again.
If Russia score first it’s game over as I can’t see an unfit salah scoring twice.

Poor quality game between Poland and Senegal didn’t bring the corners I thought it would but profit for the day nonetheless.
Picking a winner in the Russia game is like threading cooked spaghetti up a cats bum. What I do like the look of though is GOALS !!
It seems the way forwards especially since this is the highest average penalty per game world cup since records began – owing largely to the fact that defenders cannot hide from VAR when they decide to wrestle players to the ground ( unless you’re a Tunisia player that is ) – it seems they were all wearing cloaking devices. We all saw Kane dragged to the ground 3 or 4 times.
Anyway, with King Salah back, Russia have someone who they need to keep an eye on. We know what he can do on the pitch, and we know how limp a team can be when he’s not on the pitch ( look at the stats in the Real Madrid/Liverpool final when he was on the pitch and when he wasn’t ) – Liverpool’s stats nosedived after he came off. Egypt were distinctly average in their first game and made lots of silly mistakes at the back, but Russia capitalised on home soil and slaughtered the opposition. I always felt they’d win that and my bookie paid out when they were 2 up, I then lumped on the remaining 25 mins for the Ruskies to keep a clean sheet for a nice 2/7 boost.
Russia were hardly tested and i’d say they never played that bad, they never played that good either but their opposition was dreadful and so the 5 nil result reflected.
VAR will probably have a say in this match, I’ve not looked at the will there be a penalty market but I think somebody on at least one of the sides will concede a penalty for a tussle in the box.
I do like the look of over 2.5 tmg’s with betfair. @ 6/4. It looks like a gimme. Better prices are available elsewhere, I have seen 17/10 somewhere, so either shop around or wait 10 mins for a price boost if its still goaless.
So i’ll have a fresh £10 on that.

Spain may have only come out of that Iberian based thriller with a point but they were good…only 1 man made it difficult and unfortunately for Iran, they don’t have a Ronaldo in their team.
Only one outcome here for me and with the Spanish side rightly odds-on, it’s a case of looking for value in alternative markets.
