WELL that was some night of football with VAR the talking point again as Spain edged out Portugal for top spot in Group B.
I reckon it was VAR 2, Bookies 1, Punters 0 on a thrilling night of action.
That means out first two last-16 ties at the weekend will be Uruguay v Portugal followed by Spain v Russia – and the way the World Cup's gone we could see any two teams winning although the Russians were found out a bit when they faced quality opponents for the first time.
Portugal and Spain were both held to draws and that beat my Daily Double. Well done to all those who fancied Iran not to lose including selectabet who tipped a 1-1 draw in his preview.
Today Group C and D reach a conclusion with Denmark v France and Australia v Peru in the afternoon and Iceland v Croatia and Nigeria and Argentina at night.
Croatia are expected to be weakened against Iceland and if they are I'd back against them but wait for line-ups before taking this bet.

Crazy Craneguy! Can go on about the state of Scottish football etc and coefficient but surely something must be done regarding inividual teams and that’s not a dig at RFCs woes but how Celtic deserve to be hit with an extra round is beyond me. It’s simply down to co-efficients and no one but Celtic has been earning points for Scotland.

Yip. Even heard a whisper Uefa were thinking of scrapping the champions route!? That’s why I cheer Scots teams on,don’t cheer RFC on but it bothers me not a jot if they win in Europe yet most other fans take great pleasure in Scottish teams woes in Europe? I Just mean you would think Uefa could do something for individual teams but then it would get really complicated.
They tried to scrap but Lawwell and some others managed to stop it although fewer teams will qualify this year through the champions route so it’s tougher for clubs like Celtic.
UEFA will never care about Scottish teams because we don’t have the TV money – they’re looking after the big boys and big leagues.
Celtic, Rangers and even Aberdeen? That would be Aberdeen who have finished 2nd 4 seasons in a row. Can’t see us beating Burnley to be fair but not sure I follow the even Aberdeen part.
