BOOKIES are the only winners in the World Cup at this stage with two more big favourites failing yesterday.
Germany were poor against Mexico and could even struggle to qualify while Brazil threw away a lead to be held by Switzerland.
That means of the countries most fancied to win the tournament only France have started with a victory – and even that wasn't convincing.
All three games on Sunday went under 2.5 goals and there have only been two overs – Russia v Saudia Arabia and Spain v Portugal – so hopefully that trend doesn't continue when the second-round starts on Tuesday.
On Monday it's the turn of Belgium and England to get their campaigns under way and they'll be feeling better about themselves after seeing so many struggle early on.
Belgium are huge odds on against Panama and England are around 1-2 to beat Tunisia and I expect both to come through unscathed.
I've posted a preview of both games and there are separate previews from contributors as well as Voice of Value's look at Sweden v South Korea. I agree with his assessment about a Sweden win and under 2.5 match goals.
On Sunday I kept is simple with a Germany/Brazil and it was simply a loser.
My Monday bets are reasoned on the other post – Romelu Lukaku to score first for Belgium and England and Belgium to win to nil.

In December 2020 we sadly

England start their campaign against an energetic Tunisian side and in this game England won’t get a second on the ball,it looks an easy game on paper for England but it will be anything but.What England need for this kind of game is a few old heads and Experience but it’s something they don’t have as they are a young squad and this could be a telling factor in the game,for me i don’t see this England team doing enough to see this game out against a team that presses for 90 mins.

I keep getting lured into first half goals expecting these teams to come out and set the pace early on, thats the last time for a while just going see how it pans out because clearly very tight games, or teams set up to just defend. Needs a pen or a worldie (aka Coutinho) to open things up going off many of the games so far
nearly every game so far has been under 2.5 goals many teams are sounding themselves out as time progresses e.g the next and final round of group fixtures and teams know what they need to do in oder to progress the goals should fly in and then ht/ft results would be better to take I feel
